Its the same infection. The location of your outbreaks has just changed.
You always had genital herpes, but had obs on your knees. Now you get them genitally.

Sorry, I meant to say that it has NOT reoccurred on my knee since having it on my privates.
The thing is that I had it on the knee first and I had it for about 20 years that way. So how did it get from my knee to my groin?
I was diagnosed with a blood test which said I had both types. I also had a visual inspection of the groin area. The odd thing is that the undiagnosed rash on my knee has reoccurred since having them on my genitals.
Herpes infects nerve groups, and since the sacral ganglia nerves go from the waist down, its possible to have outbreaks on your knee. The most common areas are in the boxer short region, but genital herpes can cause knee outbreaks.

How were you diagnosed with genital herpes? What type of herpes do you have, i.e. HSV1 or HSV2? If it was via a bloodtest, this could reflect the rash on your knee if it was caused by HSv2.
