Years ago I had H pylori and was given the two strong antibiotics for 21 days that work good together AND I had to drink pepto dismal (NOT the chewables!) an hour before meals and 1-2 hours after meals and at bedtime. You have to have a specific blood test to confirm H. Pylori. Hope this helps.

Momo5k. I don't think it's the gas. I mean it could of been making you all sick of course. But I've had this problem and I had electric stoves for most of my life. This is the... Second or third time I've had this since I married my soldier. He doesn't get this (thankfully cause he's a big baby about getting sick) but as far as I can tell it's either in food or something along those lines.
I can't figure out when it's going to happen until I burp and I almost immediately have to run to a bathroom to vomit. I take Zantac nightly. I don't know. But I will def be getting with my doctor soon because I can't take much more of this. I'm currently sitting in my downstairs bathroom after loosing everything in my stomach from the last three days. (It might help to know it was a grayish sludge that I expelled. Sometimes it's red, or orange but I dunno what it is)
Just to try and give some extra information see if anyone gets a diagnosis.
Good luck to all who suffer this. It's horrible. :/

Hi, I am a mother of 5 children and within this last year my children and I have been having these "sour burps" as we call them. Usually we have nausea and some of them end up throwing up. It comes and goes but seems to make its rounds through the family except my husband who has been over in Iraq. My littlest one who is18mo. has them today and has thrown up two nights in a row and not very long ago at a resturant, unfortunately. She seeems fine during the day, although her appetite isn't the greatest and she has no fever. I also noticed that we have been getting sick with colds and such a lot this year. Also, about a month and a half ago someone suggested we check for carbon monoxide so we bought a detecter because the place we a renting doesn't have one and sure enough it went off while using our oven. We had the gas company come out and they found 900ppm coming from the oven. So our landlord got us another oven but we still didn't seem that much better and still having the burps and feeling sickish. Then one evening after being outside most of the day doing yard work I came in and could smell gas slightly. We found out the stove had been leaking natural gas into our home. Ironically, Myself and the two younger ones seem to be having the most problems but we are home all day, whereas the other kids are at school. It had been 9mo. for the carbonmonoxide exposure and a little over a month for the gas exposure. It has been only a couple of months since the leak has been fixed, but I know I personally feel quite a bit better. But considering my littlest one is sick today maybe it is something else.  We plan to take her to a doctor and see what they say. I'll let you know if they find anything useful!

THIS REMEDY MAY BE DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN>

OK. Had them the last two days. Read and read and read about what it could be. Saw two post of people who said to take Pepto Bismol. Most of the research I saw said that the most likely cause was Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) which is the bacteria responsible for most ulcers and many cases of stomach inflammation (chronic gastritis). Well low and behold, the active ingredient in Pepto Bismol actually kills this germ.

So I went out at 4 am and bought the MAX strength which is 525mg per tsp of the active ingredient Bismuth Subsalicyate. I took a dose and a half and it took about an hour for it to fully kick in, but it actually worked! I had one bowel movement and the gas burps slowly but surely dissipated. NOTE* As soon as I took the medicine, the burp taste changed from eggs to more neutral. Also do not let children take this drug.

Pepto Bismo does not cure h. Pylori a corse of two strong antibiotics are given as well as a daily acid reducer such as omprezal that must be taken for life the bacteria will go away after the antibiotic but you will always have h.pylori which causes an excessive amount of acid in your stomach!

I'm just having them now after vomiting and diaharrea days back - those egg burps.  When i got these in india, i too a drug called "flagyl" and this stopped the burps, and the painful gas bloating.

I suffered from the exact same symptoms weekly (and really thought I was alone in this!) since I was a small child. Rotten Egg Burps (the WORST part) followed by nausea, severe cramps, vomiting, diarrea, the works. Only after throwing up everything I'd ever eaten in my entire life would it go away eventually. Doctors never knew what was wrong and there's still nothing much online about the cause of this illness. After logging what I ate for quite a while, we figured out that the common denominator was RED DYE #40! I am an adult now who will not eat anything anywhere that even has the possibility of having the dye unless I can read ingredients (which is a TON of stuff, people! ...even some "white" things like coffee creamer packets and such...take a look at things and you'll be amazed) and I hardly, if ever, get this illness anymore. (knock on wood!) I go YEARS without being sick all because I simply avoid Red Dye #40. Just a suggestion because it's worked for me! Hope this helps some of you out there...

I am no doctor but i know i started getting the rotten egg burps at age 13. I would get the burps a day before i would have a flare up with what i know now as IBS. I would get the burps the day before and then that night i would be awaking out of a dead sleep with the most severe pain and bloating in my stomach and also cramping and explosive diarrhea. I am actually having the burps as i right this and going back to the GI doctor today. Well wish you luck.

Sulphur-smelling burps are sometimes attributed to H. pylori, a bacterium that can result in stomach discomfort and acid problems. You may want to have him tested for it. If it's found, it should be treated.
