re pain under right rib cage

Well, it's not so much a pain as a swelling. Along the bra line on my right hand side it is quite soft and palpable..  It feels like there is something there, like the sensation of a half blown balloon.. I get pain travelling round to my back and kidney area, and even as far down as my right groin.. I do have some pain in my appendix area, abut I can't quite fathom out where the actual problem is coming from.  Sometimes, I get a little breathless, dizzy nauseous and just ver very tired.. If I lie down, I feel much better.  When i stand back up and move about, it all comes back.. What in hecks name is it?  does any one have the answer?? Please !  Joannie

dear joni I am having this pain to and I am more than a little happy to hear  you say some of things that I am having a problem with that I havent seen many others mention, that is breathlessness and dizzines-a balloon under there is a ver good descrooption it just feels like somthing is big and swollen under there, I told my husband it feels like Im laying on a football, so sleeping is difficult and if I lay on my left side it feels like something is pulling from the inside and just a really bad wierd feeling happens as well. also mine started out like yours but it got to be more and more painful over time it hurts most when I sit or bend though. I have to find posistions to sit in that are ok for the pain.
I have recently found that this helps a little, I took one of my sons play balls its little the kind they used to have at mcdonalds for kids to jump in, and soft I put it under my rib when I lay on my side-

If you are having changes in your bowel habits, you might consider checking with your doc and requesting some tests to check the status of your gallbladder. Two standard tests are an ultrasound and HIDA scan with CCK injection. The 'feeling' could be related to GB issues. In the meantime, you may want to consider following a low fat diet which might help.
