Hi,
Was a clip left in your breast tissue at the time of the biopsy procedure? That is what is usually done to later confirm by mammogram that the site of biopsy i.e the site of the clip corresponds to the area of calcification seen on the mammogram.
Talk to your surgeon and radiologist and let us know.
There is no other way of confirming whether the tissue sample has been taken from the site of the lesion or not.
Let us know about what your doctor tells you and if you have any other doubts.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Spoke to breast surgeon, he had his radiologist to look at my breast exray after biopsy. He said he can't say if he got them or not.He said the radiologist did get a good amount of tissue from the area. But his radiologist said from the look of the cluster it looks like sclerosis adenosis. I've always had painful breast, the surgeon even referred to them as angry breast from my biopsy 2 years ago in both breast. Finding were fibroadenomas. I'm getting very confused. How can you not tell whether or not you got calcifications by looking at my mammograms before and after. Loosing hope.
Hi,
You should discuss this with your breast specialist or breast surgeon. Only they would be able to answer your query with a satisfactory answer.
Talk to them about the possibility of the biopsy missing the area of calcification and picking up normal breast tissue instead.
Let us know about the symptoms you are having and about any abnormal features you have noticed during breast self examination.
What is your age?
You should follow up with your doctor periodically for clinical breast examinations and repeat mammograms.
Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.
Regards.
I believe I would have to believe the Pathology report since the specimen was looked at thru a microscope. If you have serious doubts you might request (or have your physician request) that the specimen be looked at by another Pathologist
