Soft Lump on Head

Hello, I have a quarter sized soft lump on my head, behind my right ear. It is the same color as the rest of my skin, round and smooth, and the mass moves when I put pressure on it. I saw a dermatologist last year and was told that it was a mass of fat tissue and not to worry; however, it has grown since then. It doesn't hurt so I've left it alone but it's definitely gotten bigger. I just graduated and don't have medical insurance yet...  Can anyone help?

What was the cause of that lump to the granddaughter of yours?

Two days ago, I notice that my son's head (he is 1 year and 11 months old) has a little soft bulge in his left head above the ear. I asked him if it is painful, he said no. He has no fever. I'm worried. As of now I'm still observing him if the bulge will become bigger or disappear

I notice a same soft area on the left side about more than one inch upper than left ear feeling of filled fluid like a soft mango feeling about 5 cm by 5 cm diamet corner, no pain, no fever to my grand daughter about one year old.  she used to fall from the bed a lot, her parents told me.  she also fell two days back as well.. feeling of no bone in that area.  still doctor to be consulted, since we notice two days  ago only.

I have a lump on my head I have had it for almost 10 years now it has gotten a lot bigger the last year. It is on the right side of my head right in the back where you would put your hair up in a pony tail. It is very noticeable, I have had people ask me if I am ok. It hurts when I press my head up against the head board while watching TV or if I leave my hair in a pony tail all day or if I press to hard on it when I brush my hair. I have hair growing out of the bump. The doctor has done a cat scan and lots of other tests to make sure it isn't cancer or anything of that sort. Is there anything I can do myself to make this go away, some say I need to go see a dermatologist but I do not have insurance and unfortunately I can't afford to see one now, I have been getting headaches a lot more lately and it is starting to become very tender all the time. What to I do?

i have niece with lump on her head, she get it when she fall 1 week ago. at first we thought that it is just swollen because of the trauma but until now lump doesn't disappear so we decided to go in a pediatrician then she refer us to a surgeon. right now my parents is in the hospital. i left here in our house and i cant keep not to worry. i just want to ask if do you think my niece need to undergo surgery? she didn't feel pain when we try to touch it, there is no hair loss on her lump and when you touch it, it feels like there is a fluid inside.

I to have experienced this form of lump.  At the beginning of the month I sort've had swollen glands (the ones a the back of the head/neck).  Both sides had a lump obviously the glands.  A number of days later the lumps seemed to gradually disappear but  on the left side of my head near towards the neck behind my ear a lump started to form.  It didn't really bother me until it grow a wider 5cm round.  I got really worried.  It was sort've sort and hard at the same time, when I got it checked by my family doctor he said it seemed abit  squeezy.  He sent me to get an ultra sound done on it this was 2 days later by now the lump seemed to feel 5cm wide and 5cm high it seemed to be growing up ways.  Though it hurt like a tingling feeling like someone was pulling out the hairs on the lump one by one.  A few days later the size was still the same but it no longer hurt.  I got results back saying it was fat forming over the swollen gland.  Dr said nothing to worry about.  The lump has gotten small and is really vanishing fast but now I have another one that has appeared.  Same side as the head but above my ear now, it is very sore like the other lump I had but I can't even sleep on that side.  Can anyone help?

Thank you, doctor. I just wanted to let you know that I was able to receive a complimentary consultation from a plastic surgeon, Dr. Barry J. Cohen, and found that the lump was a benign mass of some sort, and it was removed. I was thankful, as a non-insured recent graduate, to have found such a generous and caring doctor who understood my inability to afford such a procedure and charged me a minimal fee. Hi,

Assuming your dermatologist was right - then this would be , what is called LIPOMA in medical terminology. It is a slowly growing deposit of fatty tissue and is benign.

I am 26 years old and I believe my blood pressure is normal. I saw a dermatologist last year while I was a student with medical coverage and was told that it was just a mass of fat and not to worry. She said that it was not cancerous because it was not hard. However, I can not help but worry because it has gotten noticeably bigger since then. I have not gotten a CT scan because I can not afford the procedure at this time.

The lump is at least the size of a quarter and raised, soft although I do feel a mass of some sort, and slightly moves when I touch/feel it. There is no hair loss. I have not had any real trauma to my head other than hitting a patch of ice while skiing.

Assuming the dermatologist was correct in that it isn't cancerous but just a "lump of fat", is it normal for fat tissue to form on a person's head and gradually grow?

Hi,

A lump would be a raised area. Is that what you are having? Is there any hair loss at the site?

What does your doctor say as the probable diagnosis? What is your age? Has a CT scan of the head been done in your case?

Is there history of trauma or injury at the site of the lump?

You could talk to your doctor and take some pain relief medications . Is your blood pressure in the normal range?

You should consult your doctor, especially since the size is changing, as you mention.
