Post ejaculation pain

I have experience pretty much what everyone else has described above.  A burning sensation in the penis after ejaculation and it only goes away after an hour or two.  Urination or another ejaculation can temporary relieve the pain but is never a cure.  The only thing I think is slightly different in my case (or nobody mentioned it) is that the pain happens after I urinate after ejaculation.  The pain hasn't happened after ejaculation itself, but only after I urinate after the ejaculation.  Which leaves me to believe something about the "valve" theory discussed above.  The thing that is horrible about it, is there is no rhythm or reason to why this happens.  I've been dehydrated, hydrated, drank alcohol, urinated before ejaculation and nothing seems to be the cause of this problem.  I find what helps the most is your state of mind, if you can distract yourself from the pain (watching tv, movie, or listening to music, etc...) seems to work the best.  I find that drinking a lot of water also helps.

This discussion is related to Periodic tip of penis pain after ejaculation, burning.

somehow i doubt that -- how were you able to get a large enough sample size to even be moderately certain of this, considering that it happens about 1/500 times? Also, at and near the climax the penis is going to "contract" involuntarily no matter what because ejaculation is the process of involuntary clenching and releasing anyways.

( i added this coment elswere too i hope its helps ) i have the same problem , with the burn , its not a STD, its not a prostate issue , its not in our minds , the great thing is that i found the remedy for it , and i think i'll win the NOBEL price for Medicine . All you have to do its to buy my pdf book , with only 99.99 , and there it will be explained how to get rid of the burn and make it disappear for good,  JUST KIDDING THERE , so lets start , the SECRET IS TO never contract your penis during contact ( its like we do when trying to end the urination,  , we all do that during sex)  thats the problem its some kind of irritation of the "valve" with some exchange of fluids , just relax and never contract the penis from the start to end . If you do have some burns , best remedy is to go wash  fast with worm water , and then add a little of baby irritation cream ( bepanthen ) in the tip of your penis, and rub it there a little. thats it.

I think you all should google prostatitis or Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome.  Here's an article for you all - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_prostatitis/chronic_pelvic_pain_syndrome

Same symptoms...and I can narrow it down to several causes.  After having several beers, such as tonight, I get pain in the tip of my urethra several minutes after i "finish".  This pain does temporarily subside after going to the pisser.  But sure enough it comes back shortly afterwards.  I've tried believe it or not rubbing ice cubes on the area of pain which actually seemed to help for a short while.  After being tested for STDs i remember discussing this with a doctor and he too commented that it is common to have painful urinations after drinking alcohol.

I had all the pain problems whilst peeing, and after peeing and ejaculation, sometimes a day or two later.

Turned out to be my prostate, too big, and causing all kinds of problems.  Worth getting an ultrasound, can happen at any age, not just to old men.

About the STD Called Trick
By Gwynita Leggington, eHow Editor

Rate:  (4 Ratings)

Trick (trichomoniasis) is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the United States. People can get trick by having unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected person. Trick affects both women and men, but this disease is treatable with the proper medication. Although trick is curable, it is important to know whether or not you have this STD so you can avoid passing it to others. There are some important things that you should know about the STD called trick.

Email Send to Phone Print ArticleAdd to Favorites Flag Article
The Facts
According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are approximately 7.4 million new cases of trichomoniasis in the United States every year. Many people who are infected with trick do not have any symptoms, so they unknowingly pass the infection to their partners through unprotected sex. Although both women and men can have symptoms of trick, symptoms are more common in females.
Identification
There are certain symptoms associated with trichomoniasis, and it is important to know how to identify this disease. When a woman has trick, she may have a bad smelling fishy odor, a green, yellow or gray discharge, itching and irritation in the vaginal area, lower abdominal pain and discomfort when urinating or during sexual intercourse. Men may have a slight burning sensation after urinating or ejaculating, a small amount of discharge from the penis or irritation in the penile area.
Misconceptions
Some people believe that once you have been infected with trick and cured from the infection, you are immune from getting this STD again. This is a big misconception because your body can never become immune against trichomoniasis; you can definitely acquire trick again if you have unprotected intercourse with an infected person. Many people also think that if you use a latex condom during intercourse, it is impossible to catch or spread trick to another person. Although latex condoms do provide a great amount of protection against trick, they do not totally eliminate your chances of becoming infected with this STD or passing it to your partner.
Risk Factors
There are several risk factors involved with having trichomoniasis. For example, women who have trick are at a greater risk of becoming infected with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Also, pregnant women who are infected with trick may deliver premature babies or their babies may be born with a low birth weight. In addition, if left untreated, trick can lead to other complications such a urinary tract infections or vaginitis.
Significance
Many people (especially teenagers) are unaware of the facts about trick. This is one of the main reasons for the rapid spread of this STD throughout the United States. Since trick is such a common STD, it is important to get tested for it at least once a year, or before you become sexually involved with another person. With the proper knowledge and prevention methods, people can reduce their chances of becoming infected with trick.

Talking to others I've found that this is quite normal.

Although, you feel like you must pee and peeing gives temporary relief, it is best not to pee.  Peeing usually makes the problem worse.

The Penis basicly gets confused of whether to **** or to ejaculate.  So the penis gets swollen.

Since the problem is with swelling anti inflammatory pills should work.  Bowel movements have been found to somewhat solve the problem.
However, the best solution is to stop worrying about peeing and the tip of the penis.  Rather, cool down the main shaft of the penis.  The best way is to take a cold shower or ice it.  I have found it is then okay to pee after the penis has been cooled.

wow I can't believe I finally found that loads of people have this problem! Anyway, mine isn't that serious, there have been one of two times of really intense pain where I attempted to stop having sex/masturbating for prolonged periods, but recently its been getting better.

For me, the KEY is urination. I can pretty much guarantee the pain will happen if my bladder is full and I ejaculate. So now pretty much all the time I take a leak before I jack off or have sex. I also find the problem occurs during masturbation more often, though that might be because i jack off more than i get laid.

apart from that I usually just grab my laptop and sit on the toilet for half an hour. I am SO relieved that I don't have an STD or some kind of prostate problem, this condition is annoying but I'm sure I can deal with it.

together we're strong :)

After doing a little bit of research I can pretty much assure you that this condition does not mean you are unhealthy in any way. Most people think this condition is due to alcohol/dehydration which confirms my guesses earlier. Even though I am young and never had sex or drank alcohol, the problem still occurs. We did some studying on sexual organs recently in school, and even though I have only a basic understanding, I believe I have the answer for why it is caused.
The urethra transports two things, urine and semen. To make sure that the sperm is not killed by the acidic remnants of urine as it travels through the urethrea, a gland releases a basic (as in high pH) substance that neutralizes the urine. This is what comes out of the penis before you actually ejaculate. When urine remains in the urethra because of improper "valve control" of the gland, which can happen more often if you are urinating constantly, dehydrated, or quickly ejaculate, the interaction of the sperm and urine causes a burning sensation that can be relieved for a short time by urinating (possibly because the concentration of urine to sperm is higher for a while, making the pH closer to what it should be).
This might be nowhere close to the answer, but I believe it accounts for all the symptoms. It occurs to me only when I urinate right before or right after ejaculation, but only a small percentage of the time. I have tried many of the remedies that people here have suggested and they all work very well. Personally I take a pain reliever and try to do something that takes all my concentration (video games, math problems, exercise). Sitting on the toilet just makes me think about it more. All men should know that this is not a problem, just something that occurs from time to time because the human body is not perfect.

I don´t know if this helps anyone?
5  months ago i went to a doctor because i had some pain when i urinated, bad smell from my penis and always in need to urinate but the drops were few. After testing my urin it was confirmed i had the std chlamidya.I got some medicine to take only once and was told not to have sex for one week.I didn´t for 1 month but after that i got burning pain every time i ejaculated. It was terrible and i was thinking about not having sex if this wouldn´t stop.I did a long research on this issue on the internet and didn´t find much so i went again to a doctor and he tested my blood and urin. The white blood  cells were too few and that can be caused by infection and my urin wasnt clear. My doctor wanted me to get apointment with some urology specialist but the waiting was about 4 months so he did decide to give me a two tablets to fix std and some prostatitis medicin called MONOTRIM (prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland) I took that every morning and evening for 2 weeks and now I have no problems with my penis.I don´t know if there was problem with my prostate but this medicine cured my problem. No pain at all and can have sex with smile on my face.
Good luck to everyone.

MollyWhoop - Prostate problems can cause pain in the penis.  If you googled male anatomy, or prostatitis, or chronic pelvic pain in men, you would realize that the symptoms you have do sound like prostate problems.

Snake and others - this is something that needs to be checked out.  There are treatments, though it can be frustrating.

I used to think this burning only occurred after a fizzy drink but was painfully proved wrong however I think urine is the key. Urinating relieves the pain for at least a minute or so and having to go every 5 minutes is annoying to say the least. The fact that I am able to urinate in these little amounts every five minutes puts a mental image in my head.  I reckon that some of my beloved seamen decide to stick around and this causes a problem for my penis. So what I am basically saying is that maybe the problem is caused by seamen drying inside the tip of the penis, either that or the seamen is simply causing swelling. Best method of prevention from this is to ensure you ejaculate fully and clean your penis well afterwards, do not roll over and go to sleep lol...saying that I have never had this pain when I ejaculate in bed at night.....this thing is quite bizarre, I nearly feel blessed. lol.

A prostate issue? It is in my head. I assure you it is not in my head or butt. It hurts and it is real. In fact I am trying to take my mind off of it right now by writting this. I have had this problem not for years and finally decided to "google" it. It is tough to talk about with my partner because you know they probably think it is an STD.

My issue is the same as all of yours. I had no idea what it was and still do not. It happens randomly but typically more from masturbation than sex. I thought I was crazy for trying to drop a duce to ride myself of the pain that occurs right after ejaculation. Peeing does help and I am going to try the ice and asprin thing. I know a warm bath does help as well. I think ice immediately followed by a warm bath and asprin might be the cure you are all looking for.

How freaking weird is this!?! This post has been going on for over two years and still no answers. But here is what I have learned. It does seem to happen when I "try to go too long." Whether it be because I want her to *** or want to make it last longer for myself. Not having sex is not an option. I always forget about until it happens. The other major factor I have found is that it happens when I am not really that horny and have sex or masturbate anyway. Tonight I masturbated about an hour before my gf showed up. When I had sex with her I wasnt really in the mood but thought I would get some while I had the chance. And boom it happened. She tried to arugue with me about something and all I could say was that my penis hurt and I needed to take the kids to the pool so it would stop.

Hope we find out something soon. This sucks!

The only thing I can think of for this is a prostate issue.  You might want to get a prostate exam.

Sorry for the double-post, but I figured I should add something. The burning sensation occurs after masturbation, seemingly at random, but has only happened once after intercourse.

I've had this problem for a very long time (a few years), and I'm surprised by how many others are affected. For me, it seems to happen randomly. Thing is, I've never been able to pinpoint the cause. I'm twenty years old, I've never had alcohol, I don't smoke, don't do drugs, not on meds, I'm healthy, and it began long before I started having sex. I should also point out that I've never had any damage, surgery, or otherwise to my genitals. Urination usually doesn't help, and the only way I've been able to get rid of the burning is to wait it out, which sucks. Getting your mind off of it does help, too, but sometimes it's difficult.
