DNA PCR at 30 days?...

I am wondering how accurate a DNA PCR test at approximately 30 days post possible exposure along with an ELISA antibody test (both negative).

My situation is that i had a make out session with a guy i had only met a week prior.  The situation was that there was french kissing and mild rubbing, but NO genital contact or oral genital contact at all!!! I am concerned because i had a test done with an outside lab approximately 2 weeks after the incident and had tests for gonnorhea, chlamydia, herpes, and HIV DNA PCR test done at 30 days ...  ALL NEGATIVE!!  I had terrible allergies, so i went to the doctor for a check on the allergies and some vaginal itching and i tested positive for chlamydia.  At the same time i had another HIV ELISA test done (38 days following possible exposure) also negative!

My issue is that since the incident i have had on and off under arm itching and a slight rash that when scratched turns red and the skin breaks.  I went to another physician for a second opinion on the chlamydia, she feels it should not have been positive at all,  and she also ran blood tests for herpes, syphilis, and HIV using the western blot test.  I am awaiting the test results from the doctor now.

My question to the doctor is whether the both the DNA PCR test at 30 days and the two ELISA tests at 30 days and 38 days are accurate? Should there be a concern of whether the Western Blot test the doctor drew blood for at 39 days will be positive?  I am extremely worried eventhough i know i have terrible allergies to both nickel and a multitude of other agents, the rash i have under my arms and around my eyes is terribly worrisome to me.

Thank you

Well, yeah that is the case, so i've been trying to think of anywhere else i could have been exposed to something like that.  I was wondering, i visited with a group about two weeks after that, and i used one of his towels to wash up.   I mean he gave me a clean towel and i was completely dry so no idication of possiblly still wet fluid on it.  I was wondering if i may have picked up an infection from this, using a clean towel from a friend, and if so do i need to be tested again for HIV if that is possible way to contract it.

Wow, your doctor put you through all these tests despite you have NO risk at all (from what you have described) ; "deep" kissing and "gential rubbing" do not put one at risk for HIV.

I would said you need not even need to test for such incident.

ps : hmm.. you tested positive for chlamydia even you did not have "genital contact or oral genital contact at all".......anyway, this can be treated so no worries.....

hi
well...to begin with... you were never at risk, if your doctor thinks you were in some risk the test to do ..... is an elisa  a 4th generation test wich looks for antibodies and also for p24 antigen. western blot is used to confirmed hiv once you have an elisa test positive
you had chlamydia from before and it needs to be treated you didn`t get it fron french kissing and mild rubbing
dont worry you were never at risk for hiv
