Bleeding during and after intercourse

I bleed during and after intercourse. In some positions I experience sharp pains and the next time I don't. I had chlamydia last year and was successfully treated, only since being with my new partner has this bleeding happened. On two occasions it has lasted for a week, like a period. I have been back to my dr and had sti tests again and I am not infected with anything. She said I have a backwards uterus but not to worry. I was referred to the gynaecologist who after looking at my notes decided I probably had chlamydia again, didn't bother looking at me properly and did another swab, which unsurprisingly came back clear.  The bleeding has continued and I don't know what to do. I'm definitely not pregnant and sometimes it is worse than others and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Is is because of having a backwards uterus or because I am damaged inside from chlamydia? Please help, I'm too embaressed to go back to my dr and the gynaecologist was so judgemental.

Hello,

Bleeding after intercourse is not related to a prior chlamydial infection or from having a retroverted uterus.  You should be evaluated for the possible presence of a vaginal lesion, cervical polyp or ectropian (glandular cells on the external portion of the cervix), or an endocervical or endometrial polyp.  I suggest you be evaluated by another more thorough gyn given your symptoms are persistent.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Have you been checked for Endometriosis?  I was diagnosed with it last December and the only test is for your doctor to go in and look. Its called a laparoscopy. They make an incision below the belly button and and in the pubic area. The scope can actual look around in there. I had 3 spots of Endo along my bladder and one spot under my right ovary. Do some reading on Endometriosis and see if thats what your next step may be?? Good luck- I know how painful it can become.
