As long as you have no oral sores, you can give him oral sex.

As long has you have no genital sores, you can have sex.

He has antibodies which offer him STRONG protection from ever getting it genitally.

You as your partner to get tested for HSV via a HerpesSelect test. In the US 60% or so have HSV1. If this is the case, then you and your partner really do not have many worries.

If he does not have HSV1, then you should avoid oral sex if you have a cold sore. Otherwise, there are not many reasonable precautions (except for condoms). The risk of transmission via oral sex in the absence of cold sores is low.
