Red Hands

HI all,

I was wondering if any of you had had answers for these symptoms yet.  I've recently developed very similar symptoms as all of you have described (splotchy red palms, darkened indentation on the skin, wrinkling fingers, etc). They are normal when they're raised above the head or when I lie down.  My family physician and neurologist are still baffling.  I'm hoping I would find some answers here.

Thanks all!

Although it is possible that the reason for which people don't come back to the forum to report subsequent findings may just be selfishness, it is also possible that there are other reasons.
Some of these might be:
1) They lost the password and don't want to go through the trouble of re-registering.
2) There are no findings.
3) After a while they don't visit the forum anymore because they have not found an answer to their problem here.
4) Their problem was solved so they don't think about it anymore and don't come back to the forum.
5) They got used to their symtoms and don't think about them anymore. So they don't come back to the forum.
I understand that my comments don't relate specifically to the subject of this thread, but this is an answer to kiwichan's comment in the previous post. On the other hand I wonder why this thread is located in the Gastroenterology forum. Well, I'll make a few more comments and later see if there is a better place to make posts that relate to the forum itself.
The slogan of Medhelp is "Finding cures together" which is a great idea.  There is here a mechanism for a doctor to give an opinion the possible cause of some set of symtoms but also a way for people with similar symtoms to exchange information.
The forum serves this purpose to some extent. But we can see that it also has some limitations which may be due to a combination of  factors including the mechanics and organization of the forum itself and the behavior of the forum participants.
Some of the problems I see are:
1) Information about participant's symtoms is entered as narrative and there is no mechanism to classify the different symtoms and combination of symtoms. (unless someone decided to take the time to do it manually)
2) There is a lack of followup. We don't know if participants have received a diagnosis and/or cure or if they have experienced changes in their condition.
3) There is a tendency for participants to say "me too"  and to think that perhaps everybody in the thread which shares (in this case red hands) the some of the same symtoms may have the same condition.
4) There may be relevant (not initially obvious) information that sometimes participants fail to mention, such as other conditions that have already been diagnosed, age, weight, blood pressure, etc.
I am posting these comments in the hope that other people will have some suggestions as to what can be done to get a better communication between forum members and to make this tool more useful in getting answers to our questions.

Hi. I have recently developed the same symptoms as quite a few here have described; hands down, bluish, mottled. Hands up, clear. wrinkles and skin easily indented.

My Dr says that I have Raynauds. I have also been diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder, so Raynauds fits...but it doesnt, according to all the descriptions I have read.

Further research has led me to believe that it could be related (including the source of my connective tissue like pain) to TOS..Thoracic outlet syndrome. I have noticed that with frequent massage of my scalene muscles and regular neck, back and shoulder stretching, I can alleviate the symptoms appearing in my hand AND lessen the degree of pain from the connective tissue disorder. Both symptoms slowly come back, but the periods between attacks is getting longer and longer. I wonder if TOS is really the cause.

Everyone here is asking for help, but no seems to come back and report on any subsequent findings they may have discovered regarding their conditions.

Honestly, the muscle pain and the blue hands scare me. It came out of no-where. Although its lessening in intensity, its still disturbing to me to see my fingernails go purple and hands and go bluish, or mottled red....These things happen for a reason and I want to know what it may be....your ideas?
