What could be causing a person to see a film or gauze over their eyes that lasts just a second or two?

Mine started about a week or 2 ago. I thought it was something in my eye. One eye is normal and the other feels like it has a film over it. Driving me crazy. I'm thinking it's stress caused by my dad being on his deathbed. Hope it's not some sort of brain problem. Will be going to the Dr soon. Will report back on what it is.
