I have the same issue

I have a 9yr old daughter and we have been going through this all of her life. She had the febrile seizures as a baby/toddler, thank god she outgrew it, but it was constant Motrin and Tylenol mix all of her early childhood. She had to have both medicines at the same time, because one alone would not control her fevers.

Now we no longer worry about the seizures, but the recurring fevers are awful. She has had her blood and urine tested, and the doctor keeping track of the fevers, which are all blamed on viruses. She has two sisters that never get sick, and she asks why is it always her? My heart breaks for her because i dont know! Now we miss work and school, she will spike a fever at least once a month, that lasts for 3-4 days.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This discussion is related to 7 year old son with recurring fever.

I am also a very sad mother for the same reason, my son 15 year old gets fever and sore throat- every month-this has been there for more than 3yrs- we also tried all lab tests nothing found abnormal to him, he is very energetic and healthy all other time. if you get any information on this please pass on to me.. hope your daughter will get better soon and my prayers for her health.

I just met a 5y/o boy this past weekend as we all camped together.  He has just recently been diagnosed withan extremely rare autoimmune syndrome that causes, for him, fevers every 6-9 weeks accompanied by sores in the throat.  This started at age 3 with fevers up to 105-106.  I think his mom said that it has slowly extended to every 8-9 weeks, but that this rare syndrom lasts for 7 years (he'll be done at age 10), has no long lasting effects, no long term damage (as he has not had febrile seizures thank goodness), and he sometimes cannot eat for 2 days.  They are closely studying him, logging start times of fevers, temp 2x's a day, noting the throat sores 2x's a day, and when they give Ibuprofen (Tylenol not reccommended nor helpful- ibuprofen no more than every 6hrs).  They did huge panel of blood work during the fever times and then immediately after it broke.  She said something about his sedimentation rate and ? were extremely high- and then back to normal immediately after the fever broke.  His mom mentioned that they are looking at an origination from Israel where this has been seen (they are not middle eastern themselves- but this looks just like it).   The good news is that this has no long term effects but it is very frusterating as it is difficult to plan.  If you log everything, they are hoping to at least know when to expect it.  I hope this is helpful to you and your doctor.

have you taken her to a urologist? they might be able to find the source of this issue, especially if she keeps geting these infections. I also understand how it is when you have one child that is sick all of the time and the others are healthy(thank goodness) it is tough not only on the sick one but everyone, especially the other kids.
good luck
