Exophoria

My son is 5 and he was just diagnosed with having exophoria. There is no family history and he can see perfect. I still want to bring him to vision therapy but if I do will the exercises help him his whole life or will it only improve the eyes for a short time. Also will his eyes ever get worse or will they stay the same as they are now?

I've ALWAYS had exophoria (I remember my parents mentioning it when I was in elementary school), and I'm 65 now, and am having no problems with it. My ophthalmologist notices it, but I don't! :-)

Thanks for responding, his doctor is referring us to Texan Eye in Austin. Do you think they can do something for it other then eye strength exercises?

You son needs to be under the care of an eye Md ophthalmologist. Visual therapy in my experience is not helpful and is expensive. I have exophoria and am an Eye surgeon. You son will likely have good vision in both eyes and a great chance of the eyes working as a team (fusion).
