I am a 32 year old female who for the past year has been experiencing "vibrations" when falling asleep. I've had an EKG, 24 hr. Heart Monitor, and an Ultrasound of Heart done. All of these tests came back with normal results. I decided to keep a journal of daily activity/food/Rx/etc.., I found that when I took Ibuprofen (600-800) for headaches that I would then experience the "vibrations" when falling asleep. I have talked to my Dr. about this and she thinks that I must have a sensitivity to Ibuprofen, although this is a rare side effect. I quit taking Ibuprofen 3 months ago and have not had any more "vibrations". I thought I should share my experience with this group in hopes that it might help someone.
Hi there.
These vibrations may be what is called "myokymias" in the medical field which can be attributed to small twitches, barely noticeable, of the muscles throughout the body. This is most commonly due to stress, or sometimes imbalance in electrolytes or nutrients brought about by nutritional deficiencies.
Adequate rest and sleep will cause resolution in most people, but if persistent, you may want to have your blood checked for levels of electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
Regards.
