Left Ovary Pain

Hi, my name is Alisha I am 18 years old and will turn 19 sep. 9th, I have notice lately that I am having terrible pains in my left ovay, but the strange thing is I only notice it when I press on it or when me and my husband have "sex" it has been very uncomfortable and that has never been a problem before. I dont know what this could be?

I am 21 i go for A vaginal exam tomorrow for the same problem as alisha in march i had leep and just had another bad pap but the tests came back negative for abnormal cells on my cervix. anyways the pain i feel is exactly the same left side durring sex, menstral, tight pants, or pressing on it directly it is a strong sharp stabbing pain, but i also have had spasms run from either side left or right into my back or sides. Not sure if that could be related to the other symtoms or not, guess i will find out soon enough right.

Both of you ladies need to get to your gynecologists, explain your symptoms and make them find out what is wrong.  Do not let them tell you that it is "probably" functional cysts. Insist on a transvaginal ultrasound as Trudie suggested.  If your Dr refuses or hesitates...lie.  Tell them you mother had horrible cysts and had to have several surgeries to remove cysts and to repair damage done by bursts cysts and scar tissue.  I hate to be suggesting this, but when you are young they don't take this seriously enough.  I had my first surgery for cysts when I was 18 and the only reason for that was that they burst.  Even after that my other Drs did not take it seriously even with that kind of history.  Learn while you are young to stand up to Drs.  They work for you not the other way around and they are not Gods.

Many women do feel pain at ovulation.  However, now that your pain is happening otherwise you should get to your doctor and arrange for ultrasounds to see if a cyst or something else is causing a problem.  Sometimes endometriosis can also affect this.

Hey there.  I have started having pain on my left ovary as well.  Actually, in the spring, I started noticing that when I ovulated, I would feel throbbing pain on whichever side was ovulating at the time.  But yesterday, 4 days after my period, my throbbing started on my left ovary again.  Any ideas why?

Hi Alisha.  It is quite possible that this is a cyst and you should arrange for a transvaginal ultrasound with your doctor.  Do come back on the ovarian cyst forum and let us know how you are doing.
