eye floaters

Hi Dr. Hagan.  Does yag vitreolysis work for reducing eye floaters?  I was wondering.  Am getting used to them but it would be nice if there was something that would reduce them.  Barbara; how are you?

Hi Barb,  floaters usually either drop to the bottom of the eye where you can't see them or then move to the sides or front of the eye where they are less noticable and easier to ignore.

In the last year I have seen thousands of patients with floaters.  Only one had had yag vitreolysis with Yag laser. He said it helped but he still sees them. It is not generally a treatment that eye MDs recommend or that insurance covers.
