Cervical Disc Prolapse at C6-C7

suffering with cervical disc prolapse at c6-c7.  One Neuro Suregon suggested me to undergo surgery.  Another suggested me to take rest and medicines.  Not much relief with rest and medicines.  I am 45 years old Female and having 2 children.  I am working as a Teacher.  I am scared about surgery.  I am suffering with this problem since 10 years.   Since Jan 2008 there is a continous discomfort in the neck and right shoulder to elbow.  If I do some neck exercises I get relief.  Please advise me what to do? Kindly suggest me remedy for the suffering.

Awaiting your kind reply

Thanks/Regards

I Have a cervical prolapse between C6- C7 also damage to C5 -C6 after a fall at work left me paralysed down left side of body for 10½ months, this said I went thru the same as you probably Aruna, Terrible pain feeling loss, discomfort. tingling I had to retire which was devastating to me as im now only 51, im not operated, conservative treatment works, altho sometimes it seems slow, ive tried MANY different treatments and meds, the most effective has been thru experience Kiropractors massage and alignment, followed by heatpacks and massage then rest, relaxation  and a CHANGE in diet as Many foods can contribute to irritation of an already painfull situation, replace any sugars with Honey (natural food) and reduce salt intake; you can by substitution find whats best to avoid in foodstuffs, articles are written on this topic, but the best meds IVE found are Surgam (also called Surgamyl) an acid-tioprophenic NOT to mixed with other NSAIDS type medicines, releif from this NSAIDS meds is amazing when used CORRECTLY, (Non Steroidal Anti Inflamatory  Drugs). Also lifestyle changes are necessary  to avoid  ANYTHING which can provoke the symptoms, this isnt easy but Can be achieved without surgery often, as ive found.

Hi,

How are you?
Conservative treatment for cervical disc prolapse includes rest, ice therapy, neck exercises, and physical therapy under supervision and oral pain medications.
Have you tried all of these?
Physical therapy gives very good results. Have you tried this?
Wearing a cervical collar also helps. Let us know if you need more information. Take care!
