those little white bumps that are broken hair follicles

In response to those little flat white bumps that are on the back of thighs and back of arms that are considered to be broken hair follicles that the hair has grown back in...how can you get rid of those?  They feel awful when you rub your hands across your skin.  I hate to imagine what my husband thinks when he rubs his hands across my butt and the backs of my legs.  It is embarrasing.

This discussion is related to small flat white bumps on the inside thighs.

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination, but your symptoms are suggestive of folliculitis. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. The condition may occur anywhere on the skin.

Folliculitis starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).

Pls keep the area clean by gentle exfoliation and apply some warm compresses and some topical antiseptics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.

Hi there, I have the same issue and you hit the nail on the head when you said you wonder what your husband thinks...I have the same insecurities! So, the only "remedy" I could find to smooth them over as much as possible is to use regular granulated sugar and mix it with lemon juice. Sounds strange but the sugar exfoliates and makes is softer and the acid in the lemon juice clears out the pores.

Hope this helps :) Let me know if yuo've found any tactics as well!
