am i too young for this?

Honestly, I do not know what is happening in my chest but it's not good. I am a college student studying pre med  and have my fair share of adderall cramming for exams. After taking it for over two years and constantly being over caffinated my heart has become very sensitive to everything. I pretty much always have an irregular heart beat, chest pains and pains in my arms, neck and back.(esp when i lay down to sleep) I am very concerned and before i see a doctor about it i was wondering if anyone had any input. I am decaffinating and have stopped taking adderall. Thank you.

This discussion is related to palpitations when laying down.

I have had this problem for three years now.  I, too ever caffinated my heart and now am still hypersensitive to so many other things.  I had every test done and all of them came back normal.  I tell you that living with these things is very hard and I've through so much.  Go and see a doctor just to make sure things are okay.  Good luck and God bless.

Please get to a Dr. and have your rhythm checked.  You might have to wear a Holter Monitor for a time.  You might also have to take a stress test.  But the alternative is a possible coronary.

I have heard that Doctors make lousey patients.  It would seem that extends to med students as well.  I don't know how you are getting the adderall but if you have electrical or structural problems with your heart taking a mixture of amphetamine salts would seem not to be an especially good idea.  The only way to find out if you have a problem with your heart is to see a Doctor.

Heart disease is no respector of age.  It is more common as we get older but my EP tells me I am far and away not the youngest person in whom he has impanted a pulse generator (pacemaker).  His PA told me that they have implanted devices in children not yet in school.

Please go to see a Dr.   And please let us know how you are doing.  Hopefully it's nothing serious and just the result of being young and burning the candle at both ends.
