hemorrhoids or more serious

I have had trouble with constipation all of my life. As a child, I had to be given enemas and had to limit dairy products.  At one point while straining the pediatrician thought that I had ruptured my rectum.  But I had not thank God.  Castor oil became my bedtime nightcap.  As a teenager  and most of my adult life, I will only have 1-2 bowel movements per week. Since the birth of my second child and a hysterectomy I have had even more difficulty.  My stool is not hard or overly firm but I have difficulty getting the stool to pass through the sphinctor to ahve a bowel movement.  The only way (I would say at least 85-90% of the time) that I can have a bowel movement without difficulty is to use an enema.  After the fleets, the stool passes with out difficulty.  My rectum is another issue... My rectum bulges out after a bowel movement.  I though that it was hemorrhoids cause be my second pregnancy.  (My baby was born while I was sitting at a 90 degree angle to the bed.  She was a spontaneous birth that happened.  Membranes were intact.  I went to a surgeon while I was on maternity leave. He said that he could not see any hemorrhoids at that time.  (I went to him expecting to have to have a hemorrhoidectomy.)  At times when I gone to wipe after urinating, I have bright red blood on the tissue. The blood is rectal.  I am now noticing mucus, when wiping after bowel movements, that I have never had before.  Could this be serious????  Could my sphinctor of retum have been injured while giving childbirth? What do you suggest?

Have you tried a high fibre diet to make your motions easier to expel?  Suggestions are pulverised fresh fruit and pulverised fresh vegetables to which bran has been added.  Bran can also be added to yoghurt.  No processed foods, brown wholemeal bread etc etc.

Also I suggest that you seek a definite diagnosis for your rectal bleeding.  Insist on a colonoscopy if you are offered a vague diagnosis such as "well it looks as if it might be......".  rectal bleeding is never normal and should be investigated.

The mucous is clearto white sometimes it is pale yellow to beige. I notice the mucous (sometimes a large amout) on the tissue when I wipe after the BM. Mostly after a BM but I also have noticed it after I have only urinated. But when I wipe the blood is red and from the rectum. Stools are soft mostly and are normal in color.  I have not had any dark or black stools.
