TO ALL FIRST TIME POSTERS

I realize that upon coming here for the first time that you are not familiar with the set up of the forum and that you probably found it by doing a search on something specific such as ovarian cancer or something similar.
When your search brings you here, it probably takes you directly to a post that deals with directly with what you were searching. Before posting any question or any response to the post you were directed to, please take a minute to see when that post was made. A lot of times the posts are several years old, and the women that have posted or replied have since passed away. As you may guess, that is especially hard on us.
If the post you end up at is at least 6 months old, go ahead and read through all of the responses and if you still have further questions, the best way for you to recieve the most responses is to start a new post of your own. If you are new and do not know how to do that, right abov the original post is a green box that says "post new question", click on it and follow the directions given. Give your post a title, type out your question, scroll down and click on the green box that says "post question" and it will automatically show up on the board at the very top.
I hope that for any of you that come here new, looking for answers, that we can be of some help.
          Chris

I may be wrong, but I think Kimchi means the very first post on the forum page advising us that there is such a thing as a "remembrance page".    I think the Remembrance page itself is a wonderful tribute to the strong and beautiful women who fought this battle.  I'm not sure the first post on this forum page is still relevant.  Just me ..

As one that has a loved one  mentioned on the "rememberence" page, let me tell you my viewpoint.  Occasionally I come in and go to that page and  "be with" my daughter for a while. It is kinda like visiting  the grave in the cematary, it lifts me up.  I go back and read all the posts from "my friends" , it helps me. I go to the photo page and relive some of those great memories. When you know that you have made friends from all over the world, that took time to tell you that they cared, to me, that it is not sorrowful, but uplifting.  At the cematary there is only a stone and the knowledge that Leslee's earthly body  is "down there", there is a difference in the two,  because  with reading the posts it shows LOVE.  I don't know about how others feel , but to me it is helpful. It is the one place I can visit, that brings  her back to me in a positive way.  No stone, just loving thoughts.  That is why it is there, for remembering.   Marty

I am bumping this up as it seems to be needed . I am once again going to contact medhelp to see if they will pin this or something similar to it at the top as a guide for new comers.

Remeberance Page and Bringing Up Old posts are 2 different issues. If you feel so strongly about taking down the Rememberance Page, perhaps you should start a new thread and not hijack this thread.

Dear Members,
Please note that MedHelp has added a new feature to this forum titled " Other related discussions" which can be found at the bottom of the page just below "back to forum" when you open a posting.  This cross referrencing box has about 4 or 5 related old postings that will automatically be reactived (some more than 6 months old and by women who have passed away) when a newbie or oldbie posts a question or comment to it.

For those who have an issue about reactivating old postings (especially by women who have since passed away), I suggest you talk to MedHelp and while you are at it, please ask them to remove the "Remembrance Page" as it is constant reminder of the women who have passed away.  And I don't want to be reminded of my my death sentence EVERY TIME  I go to the Member's forum page.

Thank you

Okay, what am I missing here?  My chemo brain can't keep up with this stuff anymore.
Mirade, how did a post about clips get on this post?  Are all the wires crossed at MH?

Anyway, who told you you can't post on the OvCa forum?  No one should have told you that & obvioulsy you can so...still confused.

If you can't access a post than that means it was removed by MH.  Contrary to what some people think, ONLY MH can remove posts. They only do that if they think it is inappropriate, if it has been posted to many times, or if they get complaints.  Usually, with all of these forums, they have to get a complaint before they even know about it. If you did 23 posts on that same subject some people might have found that offensive and reported it.

I do understand your desire to warn women about this potentially serious issue as your own case shows, but all you can do here or anywhere else is have your say and than let it go.  Warning people is one thing, but MH may think it got to the point of harrassment since you posted the same thing so many times.  We are all passionate about certain subjects, but you can't force it on people.

Why don't you start a grassroots campaign in your own city to find out if any Drs are still using those potentially problem causing clips?  Maybe you could get into a supprt group of people that have had the same thing happen and you could all work on this together.  Maybe finding out how many women and men actually are still facing this issue would help bring national attention to the issue. Surely there was some year in which they stopped using those metal clips, especially after MRI's came along so you could encourage people to check with their Drs to see if they have clips.  That would be a good first step.  By the way, where do you live?  I don't guess I have ever heard you mention it. I have contacts in a lot of states so maybe I could help set you up with someone who could help you get the ball rolling. You really should put something in your profile as it helps people understand your situation better.  I have been sick ever since you joined so I'm not even sure what brought you to the OvCa forum.  Do you have ovca?  I don't remember seeing that anywhere.
Well, as I said, perhaps starting at home would be best because it seems some people think the subject has been discussed on MH enough.
Good luck,
Jan

**Was not able to leave you a note**

Hi mirade, I have been watching your posts and I want to tell you how sorry I am that you are going through this.  I know it was mentioned before, but I hope you are seeking the advice of a lawyer.

I think your post was deleted by medhelp.  The only reason I can think of is that, although I know you feel the need to warn people, which is great, the women on the ovarian cancer forum have answered your posts and there is no more to be said about it.  I know you are frustrated and I know you want to help others but maybe the ovarian cancer forum isn't the place for your post.  I think the women's health forum may be better?  I don't know.

I see you have 23 posts since your membership on medhelp and they are all about the clips.  I do hope you are able to find the help you need.  The picture of your leg is horrifying and you should, at the very least, be compensated for your suffering.

I will also post this on the forum post in which you asked your question.

Take care

Dear chris,
I have been informed that i can no longer post on the ovca forum. My problem now is that when i tap on "medhelp what are surgical clips and can they cause pain" it no longer takes me into the discussion area that i esed to access up to Oct17th it passes me straight to the ovarian cancer forum. Is there a reason why i can no longer access the discussion room of "What are surgical clips and can they cause pain following surgery" I hope that you can be of assistance because this is a very important issue regarding the safety of women following hysterectomy. Mirade.

Thanks Chris -- I found this out the hard way when I first came here --- in fact, I just posted a new question because the other posts on the subject were over a year old
Have watched your posts with interest -- it should make you feel good to know you are helping so many people

Janet,
You had a very good suggestion about having this post pinned to the top so new comers will have an idea about how to get around and what they are doing. I have written to medhelp asking how to go about doing so and if they would consider it. That would keep it up there without someone having to bump it up all of the time.
   Thank you,
    Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, thank you, I'm managing to find my way around and getting the hang of how things work.

Best of all, I've learnt so much from reading the questions and answers posted on the forum. So much so, my onco now asks, "and what did we learn that you are going to quiz me about this session"....lol

And one thing that I have learnt is what "bumping up" means. So i will do my bit and "bump" it up when i'm around.

Take good care of you...Janet

Also, you can sort posts by Date Started, which helps to know which ones are newest.
