hi earnwall here i was hospilized for 6 days and they did cat scan everything was normal gallbladder everything they did endoscopy of esophagus and took biopsy they found high grade dysplasia barrets esophagus surgery they are talking about is to crack open my chest and remove the small area of dysplasia then disect esophagus back to stomach i was looking for a laser treatment because that surgery sounds really bad
The surgery is a Nissen fundoplication. Make sure you discuss the pro's and con's of the surgery with your doc. Essentially, they take the top portion of your stomach (the fundus) and wrap it around the junction of the esophagus and the stomach to 'tighten up' the lower esophageal sphincter to prevent the movement of acid from the stomach to the esophagus.
But if you're vomiting bile, that's not the same thing as vomiting acid. Have you found a reason for the bile reflux? Have you had your gallbladder checked? Bile can damage the stomach and the esophagus just as badly as acid can, but if you can 'fix' the reason for the bile reflux, hopefully that should bring the reflux under control and you wouldn't have further damage?
