Just had immediates fitted...

I had 22 teeth out and immediates put in on same day on 12th Sept 2008.
I have been extremely lucky, I have had no problems and had my first realignment for the bottom set. Things are brilliant and its the best thing I have ever done.
I am able to eat moreless anything now but I do struggle sometimes biting into things and eating sliced meat or raw onions and peppers, is this normal and will I be able to do it eventually do you think?
Thank you

White patches may be relining material, bacterial colonies, food debris, denture adhesive. If the extraction site were inserted collagen plug, or bone graft material, and sutured, wound tended to heal faster. If the denture does hurt while wearing, try not to wear the denture .

Thank you so much for your reply.

Do you think the white patches are signs of infection? Also will this pain go away some when I am done healing and then they can align the dentures for a better fit. Also where the creamy white patches are slightly going away there are bright sore red spots. I cannot wear my dentures at all due to this pain let alone eat with them :(  Thank you for your help. Any ideas except the normal ones to help the healing go better or to help with the pain?

Soft tissue changs rapidly during healing period, that's why almost relining of denture base is performed weekly. After relining, occlusion needs to be adjusted. Full denture reyuires balanced occlusion. If you do'nt feel even contacts on both side, or one side is lifting up during chewing, balanced occlusion is not achieved. You need to let your dentist know. If  good fitting denture base and balanced occlusion are achieved, there would be no pain, whatever food you chew.

Hello, I am relatively  young and have had to have all my teeth pulled due to chronic decay and infection...I was told part of this was due to severe dry mouth because I have had to take many medications for years. Any way I finally gave in due to the infections and had immediate dentures...after many impressions and fittings. I have a wonderful dentist. Yet my extractions were 2 weeks ago and even after having my upper denture adjusted, I am in severe pain and cannot put the dentures in because of this.....I have never experienced such a miserable feeling...swollen gums some or most covered in a sickly looking cream white covering. Tomorrow I am going to the dentist again to let him check my gums but I feel something is wrong and I am not healing....also the constant pretty severe pain. I have been on 2 courses of antibiotics and I just keep getting more sores and swelling and pain. Is some of this normal? I don't want to be a cry baby. Do you have any advice. I would deeply appreciate it. God bless. tdhope

Acrylic denture teeth are not efficient  in chewing  tough fiber food, such as squid and certain portion of vegetables. Small particles such as sesame are not allowed, since small particles tend to be entrapped under denture base and cause pain. Chewing efficiency of full denture is 15-30 percent of natural teeth.
