Botox for neck and back pain

Anouther member had posted about botox injection he recieved for neck pain after a auto accident.
I have also been given the very same treatment for the same reasion with pretty much the same results my neck is in more pain now than ever my head feels like it weights a ton and movement is limited more now than before the injections. These were my first injections and in still into my first week after having it done and  was told it would take two weeks for the full effect and im not real happy about that.
Im being told it takes about three months to wear off and thats the only way to get past it so my question is is this true or is there anouther way to counter the treatment if i decide to confront him about it.

This discussion is related to Botox injections in neck-side effects?.

I have had so many epidurals over the last year i have lost count.
In fact my family Doctor told me no more turns out i also have a degenerative bone issue and hes telling me so much cortisone will make my bone thinner nice that the pain Doctor did not mention that.
About a two weeks after i made my first post The side effects from the Botox stopped. It seems my discomfort was in fact from the mussels letting go in fact my neck and left shoulder felt pretty damn good that lasted for about 2 and a half months total then everything started getting bad again. I just had my second round of injections just last Thursday and he increased the amount buy 30%.

I am currently starting treatment at the University Of Michigan pain center for my back pain if that dose not help looks like ill be going under the knife. Best of luck to the both of you and watch out for those drunk drivers. The lucky guy i am i have been tagged buy 2 of them now 20 years apart.

Had injections in neckand shoulders in Sept 08.  took about 10 days to really feel better.  Felt great until Dec 08 (about 3 months, just like promised).  Just got second injections (4 into neck and shoulders)  Been about a week, Still rather sore, but better than constant rock hard muscles unable to rotate head without pain.  Was please with outcome of first treatment.  Looking forward to next few months.  No side effects from first treatment, will keep you posted on this round

I just read your 11/13 comment and I have only one thing to say about Botox in the neck...NEVER AGAIN!  I had 4 injections and not only did I have the worst head and neck ache but landed in the hospital from severe dehydration from "going from both ends".  I hope I never get that sick again.  I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that it helped but I wasn't one of them.  I sure hope you are feeling better by now.  I found the absolute best pain management doc (finally) and he's been doing wonders for me.  Almost all my cervical disks are herniated and in '95 I had a fusion and plating on one level but was left with chronic pain and now I have 2 herniated lumbar disks.  Have you tried epidurals?  take care...
