bellybutton

i'm 45 female.  i noticed about a month ago some ugly smell from my bellybutton so immediatly i cleansed with hydrogenperoxide whenever i can. Then a couple of days later i noticed some discharge dried up around by b-button that was light yellow brownish. so i called pharmacist and asked if nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide cream was ok to use and the pharmacist said yes.. so i used it for about three weeks and it still the same. what should i do?

Hi, I have the exact same issue but I am a male and mine bleeds from time to time. My family doctor says it's fine and proscribed me triamcinolone acetonide cream. It seems to help the smell but I am still getting discharge and pain. Should I consult another Doc or wait a bit? I've been using the cream for about 10 weeeks, and I don't have much faith in my current PCP.

Any suggestions??
P.S. I know this post is pretty old so will be very surprised if I get any response.

JerichoDefeated, if you actually receive this message 7 yrs later (lol), how did this finally go away?
Dealing with the same situation, and I was just prescribed same medicine, but I'm not confident it will help.
Thank you

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be due to yeast infection of the belly button or due to some other fungal infection.Fungal infections often present with bad smell or odor.

Keep the area clean and with a clean dry ear bud gently clean the navel. Also apply some mild steroid cream like dermacort and antifungal cream like clotrimazole and see if it helps. If the symptoms persist then oral antifungal drugs may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
