normal after Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery?

Two days ago I had a cholecystectomy to remove my gall bladder do to stones and symptoms.  The surgery was performed at 10:30 A.M. and I was allowed to go home by 3:00 P.M.  I felt fine after surgery.

By evening, my belly and legs and ankles weHe instructed mre so swollen and tight.  I was in so much pain.  I called the hospital and they paged the surgeon.  He stated that in surgery, my heart rate went down and they had to give me lots of fluids containing sodium to increase my heart rate.
He instructed me to take 40 mg lasix morning and night.  The next morning after a long night up, my weight went down thirteen pounds.  Since I have gone down an additional two pounds.  This tells me severe edema as that much weight is equivelant to two gallons of water.

My stomach is still bloated, I am having difficulty urinating.  I have to push the urine out as the stream won't start on it's own.  I have a bile taste in my mouth that I can do nothing to get rid of and have more heartburn then ever.  Generally, I don't feel well at all.

Is this normal?  I expected this to be a piece of cake in comparison to several spinal fusions I had. I actually expected to go home and feel pretty normal by now.

I had my goal bladder removed yesterday. I haven't urinated since I left the house yesterday before the surgery. Yesterday I got a temperature of 101.1. It went down after taking acetaminophen. After getting all the iv,I have drank five bottles of water.I just had a cup of coffee.  To see if the caffeine would stimulate my desire to go. Its been over twenty four hours and I don't have desire to go. Is that normal?

I just had my Gallbladder out last Friday the 13th and everything went well.  I had gas, some pain at my upper to incisions. My Belly button is mot to bad, but then this is the 6th time they went through my belly button.  This is my 14th surgery.  different things.  My problem is 6 days out. My 2 upper incision are really sore the Dr. took my stitches out today and I told him I keep getting these pains that run between my two upper incisions and I guess if I had to descibe the it would be really bad cramps and then like someone is pinching me really hard inside.  I get this every time I eat.  I feel really sick too after I eat.  I have lose 8 lbs since I came home.  I go back to the Doctor in two weeks again.  The Doctor I have is really a great Doctor and has done surgery on me before so I do trust him.  He also told me I have a Non Alcoholic fatty liver.  Since I don't drink.  I have to lose weight which I have been trying and am doing.  How are you doing now?

I had mine done on Tuesday morning and I'm still very sore.

Have you been very active at all? My doc said it was very important to move as much as possible.

I haven't moved as much as I could have, but I'm gonna try to today.

The Lortabs were making me sick and giving me headaches. I'm taking 4 OTC Ibuprofens and it helps better, but I am still very sore.

I had some pretty rough gas pain last night, but I think it was in my gut and my chest.

I have no pain at all where my gall bladder was. Mine is at the top incision slightly and mostly at the belly button.

My wife said she hurt worse than I am saying when she had hers out.

In my experience, don't listen to nurses trying to play doctor.

If you are in that much pain, then I would definitely go to see the Surgeon, but you are having no fever.  That's a good thing.

My surgeon gave me a direct number to call him.

I would avoid the ER at all costs.  Too many people with the flu, colds, etc...plus the ER docs- could care less.

Day four, I expected to feel better as each day passes.  I can't believe I am having this much trouble.  Last night I toughed it out after thinking long and hard about going to ER.
The pain was in the high scale, chills, no fever.  I did try to go off pain meds yesterday, maybe it was to soon.  I've never had trouble quickly bouncing back from surgery before and I have had a few big ones in the past.  This was small potatoes in comparison,  I am beginning to think something is not right,I have four small incisions with a total of nine staples.  The incisions don't hurt at all. That's not a problem at all. I didn't even get the expected shoulder pain from the gas they pump in the belly.  The pain is not centralized where the gall bladder was, though I can definatly tell I had surgery there.  It's like my entire gut is contracting.  when I had the edema the first day, my belly swelled up so badly that it forced the stapels about half way out when the belly swelling finally went down.  The doctors nurse said she had never heard of anything like that happening before.  I'm at a loss as to what is going on.  Maybe a trip in to see the surgeon is warranted.

I just walked in the door from having Gall Bladder removal surgery yesterday.  The main place I am hurting is behind my belly button. Doc said that was normal.

I am a little nauseated and I, too, am having difficulty urinating (taking forever to start and stopping and going). The surgeon said it was okay as long as I was emptying my bladder, which I am.

He told me to move as much as possible, but to be honest with you I feel like I've been hit by a truck.

I had the every now and then heartburn and chest pain. I do have some heartburn now, but he said that was probably from the pain medicine and lack of eating.

I've lost 5 pounds that I know of and my abdomen has shrunk considerably. I've, probably, lost more weight than 5 pounds.

My main problem was abdominal pain and bad bowel movements continuously.

Surgeon said everyone has different symptoms.

I was told in advance that everyone reacts differently and when I told him how bad my abdomen hurt a little while ago he said it is normal and it would gradually decrease over the next 5 days.

He compared it to working out. Immediately after you feel sore, but the next day you feel a little more sore and to just try to keep active to work it out.

Just for me to move and be active as much as possible without lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk.

I'm right there with you just so you know.

We'll be fine.
