Update on Logan

Hey Ladies,

I want to fill you in on the traumatic week we have had here at home. It started on Monday Logan began spitting up more and  more. So we bagean to really monitor him. Then on Tuesday it began to get worse. It got to the point where Logan was not holding down any of his bottle. I called the nurse on call for his pediatrician and was told to take him to the ER. So at 1am I was sitting in the ER for hours. At the end they called it a stomach bug and told me to follow up with his pedicatrican that day (wed). So went to the pediatrican and found out the baby put on 7 ounces in on week and that the doctor thought it was just a bug. We were told to add pedialite to his bottles to help hydrate him. So wed and thursday we did this.

On Thursday evening this had not improved so we called the pediatrican again and were told to come in. We saw the pediatrican on call at the office. He was weighed again and lost 2 ounces. Prob from throwing as much as he had been. The doctor had me feed Logan an ounce of formula then lay him on the exam table. We all then noticed this mass moving arond his stomach. The pediatrican then explained he believed it was a pyloric stenosis which is the muscle that moved food from the stomach to the instestion. We were told to take him to Childrens Hospital in Boston ASAP because he made need surgery.

We get to the ER get checked in and then get an U/S to confirm the stenosis. It was found that i was indeed pyloric stenosis and he would need surgey in the coming hours. I was absoluatley a mess. To think that my 6 week old needed sugery. So on Friday at about noon he was put under and had his surgery. They were able to do the surgery lathorascopically. He ended up with 3 little incisions. At around 130 he was out of surgery and in our arms again. I couldnot have been happier.

We were told this surgery is somewhat common in first born males.

Today we got to come home and are so happy to be here again.

I just wanted to let you all so you can be on the look out if your babies start to spit up more and more ask about this.

XOXO

Jonelle and Logan

thank you all so much for your well wishes. So far we have been home for 2 1/2 days and Logan is doing great. He appetite is coming back more and more, and his spirits are great. Its amazing how resliant he is. You would not even know he had surgery.

I on the other hand keep playing worried mom. The past 2 nights he had slept next to me due to me being afraid that he could starting throwing again.

Today/tonight we are going to put him back in his crib and get him back on schedule.
