chronic nausea

My husband has the same chronic nausea as another poster I read.  He has been suffering these waves of nausea several times a week for 40 years.  He had surgery years ago to supposedly remove a blockage, however the nausea continued.  He has had several tests over the years and been on anti acid pills with no relief.  It has become worse in the last few months.  He cannot handle any stimulant as these bring on the nausea however he also feels it without having consumed any stimulant.  Later in the day it seems to subside and the most curious thing is that having a drink of alcohol seems to help.  My daughter also suffered this same nausea when she was 14 for almost 2 years.  She decided, unrelated to the nausea, to become a vegetarian and has not had a return of the problem for 15 years.  Could red meat be causing this? Or could inner ear problems?  He has often had the nausea come on while driving.  He is becoming increasingly frustrated as it now is really affecting his quality of life.

You say that your husband gets worse when driving. I saw another post from a someone with a similar problem and she discovered after many years that she had a vestibular disorder. I believe he may need to see an ENT doctor to check this.

I have the same problem as your husband.  I feel better usually as the day goes on and alcohol seems to help the nausea.  The nausea has been consistent for 7 days running.  Has your husband found any relief?

My husband had gallbladder removal on Dec 30, 2009.  Could not have done by Laproscopy due to scar tissue.  Was doing pretty good until day 9. Late afternoon began having pain in lower abdomen then became severe with nausea and vomiting.  Lasted through the night.  Took pain meds and something for nausea helped at around 7 am after putting up with this for 8 hrs.   Then 8 hrs later, nausea and pain returns, no vomiting.  Called local hospital to find out what he should do.  No one would talk to him concerning the matter.  Told us to call his surgeon, we tried to explain that the Surgeon's office was closed for the weekend.  Can you help us as to what we should do.  He has an appt on Monday for post op follow up.  This is Sat.
