Concerns about raw shellfish and foodborne illness, as well as mercury in fish have many women reluctant to eat seafood at all while they’re pregnant. But avoiding shrimp means you’re missing out on extra zinc, protein and iodine, as well as some omega-3 fatty acids. Experts say pregnant women can enjoy three servings of seafood that’s low in mercury, like shrimp, a week.

Serving idea: Serve grilled shrimp kebabs on a bed of dark leafy greens, or snack on cold cooked shrimp and cocktail sauce.
