I need some advice please

Nov 12, 2013 - 4 comments

Tomorrow I'm going with my parents to a new Cancer center.  I'm so scared and nervous if they should tell us they can't help either.  I don't know how to handle it, what to say to her and my dad and what to do next.  Do I say to them, especially her we will keep searching and going to other places?  Or not say anything at all? What if she's hysterical? Then most likely my dad will be too.  My sister is already so nervous.  She's asking me if I will be ok tomorrow if its bad news.  I just don't know.  Help me please.

FB letter

I've not given up on my Face book posting and I actually have the letter pretty much ready to go.  Thank you in advance to everyone who is willing to let me invade your page, lol.  I don't know much about face book, but I know the power of social media.  I'm hoping it will also bring me even more hope as we go along.  I will let you know when I'm ready to post.  xo

Before my mom goes to see the doctor, she has blood work drawn.  Part of the test, they can tell the presence of Cancer with a test called CA125.  Her last test produced the result of 850, increasing 100 points from the last one.  A very high CA 125 indicates the Cancer has spread.  And also gives  you a pretty good idea that the chemo is not working.  Usually a PET scan is done as well.
This morning they decided to admit her because the results also indicated she was anemic.  Also she was having some mild pain in her stomach and they wanted to do a scan check for any blood clots, etc.  Thankfully, there were none, but she did have some fluid in her lungs which was why she is having the pain.  So they will drain that fluid as well.
She also had a high pulse this morning, so they put her on heart monitor, but that seems to be normal.
As far as treatment is concerned the next step the dr is suggesting is a Hormone Therapy.  It will consist of 20 pills a day.  She hasn't decided yet what she is doing.  She was really hoping this chemo would work.  We all were.
The dr said the hormone pills were successful for some but nothing is guaranteed.
So that is the latest.  She should be released tomorrow hopefully.  Not sure what is going to happen next.  My dad was crying and I feel bad because I just don't know what to say or do.
Thank you for listening.
