Since I was discharged from the hospital I was battling a full-blown postpartum depression (never had anything like this before). Anxiety attacks were the hardest part complete with chest pains and vomiting. After about two weeks on advice of adgal I managed to identify the triggers: I think going home while leaving twins behind in NICU was making me sick. It was hard not being there for all the day and night feedings.   I am basically back to normal now. Having Margot at home helped and William will be discharged tomorrow after a 20 day stay. I still need to restore my relationship with Anna after a 6 weeks hospital stay. Physically I feel OK although prolonged bedrest did bring my activity level way down; I am getting back to normal slowly...
In the end, Margot spent 10 days in NICU and William 20.  Margot had very minor issues: one apnea episode and too sleepy to eat.  William had beathing issues, minor apnea, eating issues (could not suck, swallow and breathe at the same time and he still can't) and tachycardia (rapid heartbeat).  He will be discharged tomorrow with a beta blocker that he will be taking for a few month; cardiologist told me he will outgrow it by 1 year or sooner.
Overall, both twins should be OK and I am very grateful for that.

Dilating at 29 weeks  :(

Nov 20, 2012 - 16 comments

Today at my check-up I was 1 cm dilated.  This is a huge change since last week...  They will re-check me in a week and if  I am progressing and opening I may be on bed rest in the hospital for the rest of this pregnancy.  This is all so strtessful!  Twins are about 3 pounds each which is a bit higher than 50th percentile for 29 weeks BUT their weight is sooo low!!!  They are sooo not ready to come out.  And there is so little I can do about this.  I do not feel any contractions and hope for little change between today and Monday's check-up.

Edema vs Pre-eclemsia: scared!!!

Nov 09, 2012 - 15 comments

I am in panic!  Almost overnight my feet swelled up.  I am almost 28 weeks and afraid that I developed pre-eclempsia.  Last pregnancy I never had any problems with swelling or water retention and I went to 40 weeks but with twins I know I am at higher risk.  I am really paranoid I will be forced to deliver 2 invalids at 28 weeks.  This is really stressing me out.  My next check is on Tuesday and they will check for protein then.  This is going to be a stressful weekend!!!

Pre-term Labot check-up

Oct 09, 2012 - 6 comments

Had my first pre-term labor check-up tooday. I will be 23 weeks tomorrow so they start checking my cervex for dilation, etc. So far so good, i am closed and no signs of pre-term labor.

Hope it stays this way till 35 weeks. Sometimes I feel the time is standing still...

Only one problem : I am not gaining enough weight.  So far I only gained 10 pounds which will be a problem long-term.  Right now they want me to test for GD early and off to nutricionist i go again.  This time they want me to start gaining weight.

The best part about this appt: i got prescription for handicapped parking on campus.  I hope to teach till 31 weeks and I sooooo need it.
