Recovery

One month since the ablation procedure.
My bruises have faded to two blotches of darker coloured flesh. The area is no longer tender.
My catheter wounds are not tender either. The largest one is still bumpy but the other two are just tiny scars.

Mostly I feel well. I have energy but I find I can't overspend it. If I do too much then I get very tired and it carries over to the next day.
I am not very fit. I can walk a distance but if i walk quickly I feel a bit light headed.

I have had a few episodes of light headedness. It is often after bending over. One evening I scared myself when i got light headed a bit nauseous. I thought i was going to have another scary racing heart episode and i felt my heart pounding but when i rested for a bit i was fine and my heartrate was normal. In retrospect I think I may have had a bit of a panic attack after the first couple of symptoms.

I am still un-nerved from my afib experience and my heartstopping faint (from the accidental vagus nerve pressure after my procedure). I definitely need some reassurance that i am fine now and that i can trust my heart.

The recovery period has certainly been a lot longer than I expected. I hope that once i get my physical fitness back I will feel great. I certainly haven't had any of my WPW dizzy spells since the ablation and my heartbeat is much more settled. I don't notice many odd beats at all now.

Day 22 -8.11.12

Nov 07, 2012 - 2 comments

This morning I walked at a fast pace for a block because I needed to get to the bus-stop to keep an eye on my neighbour's children while they waited for the school bus.
I managed the walk really well but when I arrived I felt a bit light headed and I noticed my heartbeat felt a bit fast.
I really need to build up my cardiovascular fitness again.

The weather has been quite cold this week and my leg is a bit achy. The cold seems to make it achy.
The bruise has almost gone but the ache remains. The ache stretches down my thigh a bit. It isn't just at the insertion site.

Mostly I feel well now. I just tire easily and need lots of rest.
I'm going to count the weeks and months down, with, hopefully, no more WPW symptoms.

Day 20  6.11.12

I'm continuing to get stronger and more comfortable. I definitely need to get lots of rest and a good night's sleep or I don't feel good.
My bruising  has shrunk to two areas about 3cm in diameter that are fading away. I still get some achiness in that area but it's only minor.
Where my catheter wounds were there are little bumps under the healed skin.

When I am well rested I feel rather well. I usually have about half a days energy and I get more tired in the afternoon.
I don't notice much discomfort in my chest and torso any more.
I was interested to look at a diagram of where the catheter goes through the femoral artery.
I could see that my aches and pains post ablation, were along  that same path.

I don't have many irregular heartbeats that I notice.
A couple of nights ago I was very aware of my heart and i thought it was beating hard and faster but when I timed the beat it was normal. As soon as I knew that I was calm and I didn't worry any more.

I am looking foward to building up my fitness again. I think it will help improve my energy levels too.

I am making sure that I take the Cartia with food and I haven't had any more stomach pain.

Day 17  3.11.12

Nov 03, 2012 - 1 comments

I've had a pleasnt Staurday.
I found it a lot easier not having to go out to work even though i didn't sleep so well last night.
Apart from being tired I felt well today.
My mood was happier too.
Yesterday i felt frustrated with my progress and grumpy. It was a very hot day, which didn't help.
I had some stomach pain tonight and i'm suspecting the Cartia.
Last time I had to take Cartia long term i developed stomach ulcers, so I hope that won't happen again. i have the enteric coated ones.
I'd really like to take fish oil and nutritional blood thinners instead.
I need to find out if i can take fish oil as well as cartia. The label says check with your Dr.
