Here I go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jul 10, 2010 - 0 comments

Here I go again. The exception, this time, is that I want to lose weight. Before, I really didn't care. Now I have a reason - motivation; my wife and I are renewing our wedding vows in December, for our 25th wedding anniversary. I'd like to be able to fit into my suit that is a size 38" waist. I have let myself get out of control and gain up to 214lbs. The most I ever weighed was 220lbs. So far I've lost 4 lbs. I now weigh 210. I need to lose a total of 29 lbs. The most weight I've ever lost is 75lbs. from 220 down to 145. At 145 I was having problems; I became anemic and had to gain some weight back. I gained back to 185 which is where I'd like to be for our vow renewals in December.

The Battle of the Belt Tightening

Well, I started out trying to track my weight some time ago at around 195lbs. I just had too much to deal with and could not get in the right frame of mind to control my weight. So, instead of going down I went up to 208. I started getting serious on the first of July, but then the holiday... Still I am down now to 205 and will shoot for a realistic goal of 180lbs. I need to lose 25 more pounds. I think I can accomplish this by the end of the summer. I really am determined this time - it's just all those distractions like family gatherings, parties, and dinning out. I will have to stay focused!

I am retired now - and feel lucky to be able to retire at such a young age; 56. I still feel stressed and think about work a lot and it still seems like I'm on vacation and will have to go back to an accumulation of issues. Maybe I'll relax eventually! At least I'm able to get more rest now, and as funny as it might sound - exercise. I think in time I will do a lot better now that I'm retired. My SCS is still working really well; still getting about 90% relief in my neck. But, I have a lot of pain in my joints, my hands, legs, feet, and I feel bad all over (FMS muscle aches) a lot of the time. I'm starting a new med: Sevella (Malniciprin) and have heard good things about it. I hope it works.
Good luck to all who are struggling with pain and still trying to work - I did that for almost five years. I know how hard it is and my heart goes out to you.

SCS second surgery

Apr 04, 2009 - 0 comments

The second surgery was on March 24th and went well. I had my follow up appointment this past Wednesday and the Medtronic's technician made some adjustments. I feel like the unit is working the way it is supposed to work now - finally! I am feeling so much better in that respect, but arthritis has been getting worse since prior to surgery and now even more so. A lot of pain in my shoulders and arms; especially my right arm and right elbow; and also in my knees. It's discouraging and depressing that I get relief in one area and then have so much more pain in others. It's never ending and I don't think it's ever going to get better. It is just one long, hard, demoralizing, and depressing fight. I plan to retire soon and I hope I will be able to manage my issues better and will be able to enjoy life some before I leave.
