No baby yet

May 09, 2011 - 1 comments

3 days till I'm due, no sign of the baby yet. My feet have swollen again horribly, my hands are starting now too. baby is engaged and ready to go, he has enough amniotic fluid still but I can feel his every move. It's starting to hurt now too when he moves. I think I lost my mucous plug (or at least a part of it) and I have trouble walking, turning in bed and standing for more than a few minutes. Needless to say I'm really ready for all of this to be over and to hold my son in my arms! Don't think I can take this another week or more, I'm in so much pain all the time :( I heard a doula say that she thinks the last few weeks are so hard because then we welcome the pain when labor starts; I think that's very true!

Dunno what's worse...

Arg! I remember that before my HPT came back positive, I was frantically searching for signs I was pregnant. Like any other woman TTC lol! Now, at 39 weeks pregnant I feel the same way about labor starting; every pain and twitch in my belly have me wonder if that means labor is starting. It's 2WW all over again! I just want it to start already! My back is killing me and I'm so jealous of my friends getting to hold their babies already... I just want to hold my baby boy :(

Scary stories

Apr 27, 2011 - 4 comments

By now all the girls in my pre-natal class have given birth and it's not what I imagined it to be. I hear one sad or scary story after another! It's very normal in Holland to give birth at home (we're strong ladies, no ED most of the time!), but each one of them ended up in the hospital. One because the baby had pooped in the amniotic fluid, the other because she was having strong contractions for 24 hours straight but came nowhere near being fully dialated and ended up having to go on all kind of meds. The other one is still in the hospital, she's been there since Sunday (if we do end up in hospital, usually we're released within a day of giving birth) and there's no saying when she'll go home. The last one had a perfect birth, only to find out her newborn has a tumor in her brain that is quite probably not curable. It scares the hell out of me! I don't want a nasty birth, I just want a normal one and have a healthy happy baby at the end of it :(
