Death and Taxes

A number of years ago I got into a huge dispute with the I.R.S. over a supposedly owed very large sum of money (I assure you; they were wrong).

After years of fighting, patience, and waiting;

It is FINALLY over.

The alleged debt has been wiped clean.

So... they say there are two things you can't beat. Death, and Taxes.


I've beaten taxes. Who knows? Maybe I'll take on death next. :->

I am an American, so...

That being said, I'm just doing a quick mention here for those who happen on my journals and wish to comment;

I welcome all comments of any kind. I will not delete or censor anyone's comments. I welcome opposing views.

The Power of Thought and Word

Words have Power.

When we think we tend to do so in a Jungian mix of imagery but in the end, those images coalesce into thought and word.

When thought becomes Word and that Word is spoken, you are in essence creating a concrete reality.

(There have actually been studies to this effect, showing chemical/ emotional response to the viewing and speaking of specific words and phrases).

So one should be careful of being aware of the words they think and use to describe their feelings and beliefs.

A good exercise is to take some of the most common phrases and word you use and examine the context of their use and their MEANING.

Because what you express verbally doesn't just lead to how the world views you, but how you view yourself.

If, for example, you habitually wake up dreary and depressed, you're first unformed thought of the day is probably "I hate mornings."

What happens here is you're doing a form of subconscious programming. You'll begin to focus subconsciously on all the things you hate about mornings, and eventually that's all you'll see and experience.

You'll have blocked out any possible experiences that could be happening in a morning that could  lead to another possible realization that you could actually enjoy a morning.

So the next time you wake up, instead of thinking "I hate mornings"; try to look about and find something to focus on that will actually make being awake first thing a pleasant experience. Try changing the thought from;

"I hate mornings" to "I hate mornings, but I do love that first cup of coffee."


"I do like the fact I get steady water pressure in the shower. Thank the plumber for good pipes and a great boiler!"  

Well, something like that. Not all of us can manage awe at the successes of modern plumbing.

If you find yourself continually thinking and speaking in phrases of irritation and annoyance is it any wonder that you find that you are constantly irritated and annoyed?

The idea is not to make some sort of dramatic, sudden change. This is very difficult to do and often fails. We are creatures of habit, and changing those habits is very difficult.

You start small and make a small crack in how you think and insert a wedge in the form of a small, positive thought.

Once you've opened a crack you can slowly work at it until you've opened up space for new thoughts and new words that will lead to new beliefs and new realities.

God and the Supernatural? What do you Believe?

This is actually more of a question I'm asking here as a result of a theological debate I'm involved in on another WebSite.

It's in three parts;

Do you believe in God and what is your religious affiliation (if any)?

Do you believe God is a Supernatural Force?

How do you DEFINE "Supernatural?"

It would be helpful if you can give me your "gut reaction" as well as any answers that are given serious thought (unless they are one and the same!!!).
