O.B. appt yesterday

Sep 24, 2014 - 9 comments

So I had my follow up appt yesterday with my O.B. She told me to stop using the steroid cream and I started using a clotrimaderm with hydrocortisone cream. And a fluconazole pill. Apparently I have a yeast infection. I treated it myself about 3 weeks ago and it must not have gone away. So she gave me a super duper one.

I didn't get a chance to discuss sterilization with her cause she was so busy. So i have to book another appt. Then in December she's going to do a colposcopy.

Does anyone know if yeast infection has anything to do with your liver function and/or diabetes? She wanted me to do some blood work to check my liver function and hb1ac which checks for diabetes. I was a little confused on that, but I did it.

Fx these tests come back normal

Hi Shannon. Women who are diabetic absolutely are more prone to yeast infections, as well as all other kinds of infections. As a diabetic, you have more sugar in your blood. Yeast and bacteria thrive in these conditions. Those little buggers love it! As far as the liver function issues causing increased incidence of yeast infections, I'm really not sure on that one. I hope this turns out to be a run of the mill infection and everything else is ok. Take care of yourself.

Thanks Ang!

She thought of the blood work as I was booking my next appt. So I never got a chance to ask her why she was requesting it.

As far as the diabetes goes, I will likely be more apt to get it because it runs in the family. My grandma had it, my mom has it and my uncle has it.

As far as I know, liver issues don't run in the family. But I also know nothing about my dad's side

Was your rx for one or two tablets? Sometimes 2 are prescribed for stubborn yeast along with the cream. My acupuncturist says it's a good idea to take probiotics too. Ortho biotic I believe it is.

I took 2 yesterday, 1 for the next 2 days and then during my period I take 1 a day for 3 days. And then after that just during my period.

I've been considering take a probiotic.

I hope they come back normal too. I don't really want to have to deal with diabetes or a liver problem on top of everything else. Thanks Ellen!

Thanks hollus! I hope the results come back soon.

I've been googling symptoms of diabetes (I know......baaaad idea). I do have some of the symptoms. I realize that symptoms could be a myriad of things, but it could also explain some things as well

Definitely agree with the diabetes link!! Hoping it's not that, my mom has diabetes pretty bad and gets yeast infections frequently!
