I had surgery on Monday 6/23 at 145 pm and went home on Wednesday 6/25 at 6 pm. Dr. Apte removed a large orange sized cyst along with my left ovary. No cancer! The mass had attached itself to my abdominal wall, small intestine and appendix so it took much longer than expected to remove. Plus there was a lot of old scar tissue from prior surgeries. Total surgery time was about 2.5 hours. I have a longer than expected vertical incision with stapples, about 6 inches, ending above my naval. I had been previously diagnosed about 3 yrs ago with an unbilical hernia but none was found. Appparenty where the cyst adhered to the small intestine gave the appearance of a hernia. So this cyst had been there a long time. I am hoping this resolves all my digestive issues.
I am taking Vicadin, 600 mg motrin and a stool softner. I go back on 7/3 to have the staples removed and get the final pathology report.
I am still a bit swollen and sore but doing fine.
Thanks to all for their warm thoughts and wishes.
