So I was just sitting and reading all kinds of opinions on ttc immediately after a D&C due to blighted ovum. As everyone on here probably already knows, the opinions were VERY scattered and go both ways.
When I found out I had a blighted ovum, I asked the doctor how often people miscarry and she basically said not that often it was just a fluke that it happened to us. WELL I just remembered something. When I was checking into the hospital, I immediately loved my nurse. She was an older women and very open and easy to talk to. Right as they were about to take me away for the procedure I asked her how often they do D&C's.
Despite my OB saying this doesn't happen very often, the nurse said they do them VERY often sadly enough.
Why would my OB say it doesn't happen very often and then the Nurse tell me the truth. Talk about weird. For some reason I am mentally defending my OB (which I don't really like, maybe because she is so blunt about things) and convincing myself that she only said that so next time I get pregnant I won't stress about it.
Why does a doctor say something, then a nurse says the opposite and for some reason I always believe the nurse? I guess I'm a weirdo. Maybe because I am studying to be a nurse? Who knows. Just a thought that hit me and I couldn't help, but share it.
We really aren't alone ladies, according to my nurse, D&C's happen several times each day. I live in a town of 30,000 so basically a LOT of people in my town have been through this.
