How I am spending Snowmageddon so far...

Feb 10, 2010 - 6 comments

I'm actually not feeling all that sick, leaving me victim to Cabin Fever.  Here are some activities outside of my usual repertoire that are helping me to pass the time...

1.  Baked a cake.

2.  Dug out my truck, twice.

3.  Streamed what feels like 1000's of hours of Netflix.

4.  Re-arranged the furniture in the living room, twice.

5.  Tried out 2 new shades of nail polish, at the same time.  (Alternating fingers.)

6.  Baked cookies.  Thankfully, I'm out of sugar and can do no more confectionery damage.

7.  Taken 3 baths.

8.  Read books by both Chelsea Handler and Dennis Leary.

9.  Worked out to Richard Simmons.

10.  Wrote a list of idiotic things I've done.

hey girl, those are some amazing accomplishments.  Did you dust/vacuum under the furniture when you moved it?

You've been in since Thursday, right?  Or was it Friday?

I am going to lift your idea here and start a thread on MS along the same lines.  Maybe it will get some of our east coast friends some new entertainment.

stay sane - too bad you are out of sugar.

My vacuum is on the fritz.  Repairing it may very well be item 12 on my ongoing list.  (Item 11 was to watch a DVD recording of the Musical "Cats" while working on interview Thank-you notes, in case you were wondering.)

I've been off since mid-day Friday, but I was out of town the previous Monday-Thursday.  And this coming Monday is a holiday.  So this is really an extended vacation!  I did sneak into my office to grad some stuff on Tuesday, in between bouts of snow, but thanks to extensive firewalls there's not too much I can accomplish remotely.

Hope other East Coasters join in, I'll need to swing by later and check your forum!

Hi Wonks,

I'm in Falls Church and am just loving all this snow - NOT!!  Your list was great. I've been baking cookies too and eating each an every one of them.  Perhaps I need to get the exercise videos out to work off the extra calories too.

So, let me add to your list.

1. Put a Jigsaw Puzzle together for the first time in my life.  Only 500 pieces, but gotta start somewhere.

2. Called every friend and family member I know to catch up on gossip.  Can't wait to see my cell phone bill next month.

3. Actually took care of a few work issues from home.  How exciting!

4. Crocheting a blanket until I ran out of yarn.

5. Online shopping.  Need I say more.

6. Totally lured into daytime TV, so very sad.

7. Tried to stream Netflex movies onto my TV, but couldn't figure out how to make it work.

8.  Cleaned the bathroom.  That was no easy task and one I had avoided way too long.

9. Knocked icesickles of the eaves.  Not that exciting I know, but I thought it was kinda cool.

10. Reading a book by Michael Mortenson a guy who went to Afghanistan to fund the first girls school.  Excellent story.

So, that's how I am spending my time in Siberia.  Take care and let's hope things get back to normal sooner than later.

My best,

Cats?  OMG, that is really getting desperate.   LOL

I was thinking about your dilemma, and came up with a solution:  Go to your neighbor's and borrow more sugar.  There can never be enough baking!

stay warm,

I was really only playing Cats to keep me motivated to work on Thank You's.  If I played anything good, I wouldn't write the notes!  (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!)

The vacuum and I are still in a stalemate.  But I did break up the monotony last night by trying a new recipe, Ginger Honey Chicken, for which I actually had all the ingredients on hand.  (OK, a couple of subs, but I had most.)  It was actually really good, better than take out!

I have been dutifully avoiding online shopping.  I had a narrow miss when Bed Bath & Beyond emailed me about some special sales, but I stayed strong.  I'm (hopefully?) moving in the not too distant future and keep telling myself to save now so that I can get cooler stuff for my new place.

Work is again shut down today, but it's looking promising out there and I think we'll be back tomorrow, just in time before the 3-day weekend!
