February 2010 update

Feb 25, 2010 - 1 comments

Well, it has definitely been some time since I last updated, but here's the condensed version of what's going on in my life if you're interested...

I had a relapse in September 2009 and my neuro told me that he was going to change my DMD if I had another relapse in the next 6 months. He said that he wasn't sure that Avonex was working for me and that if I had another in that period of time he was going to switch me to something else.

December of 2009 was stressful, mainly due to the pressures of the holiday season, but I wound up having another relapse that started just around Christmas Day and so I called my neuro on January 8th to get an appointment and they got me in on February 9th.

In the mean time, however, my wife was having issues with preeclampsia and wound up delivering our baby boy Connor on January 28th via c-section. He's in the NICU and he's doing fine. He's a cute little peanut, too!

So I went in for my neuro appointment and he said "we're going to switch you to Copaxone". No problemo, let's get the ball rolling and find out what we can do. I did the whole MRI shuffle and Solumedrol cha-cha and here it is, almost two weeks later and some of my symptoms have abated, and some have gotten much worse. I have dysesthesia in my legs and it's almost unbearable. I'm working on finding out what to do about it, but I'm not very hopeful since alot of the stuff I've read on treating it say that there's nothing they can really do about it.

So there's my life in a nutshell, thanks for reading and God bless you!

Jason, congrats to you and the wife on the arrival of Connor.  I hope he will be home soon - having a newborn in NICU certainly adds to your stress.

I'm so sorry that your symptoms are running amok - hopefully this latest relapse is almost over and you will be feeling better soon.

Give Connor a kiss from me, ok?

feel better,
Lulu
