Hi. Sorry, guys. I am not sober.............yet. I was all ready to be on Friday, until I got a call on Thursday from a potential employer for a job interview for today, Saturday. I knew that I could not do an adequate interview while on Day 2 of wd. I know.....just another excuse, right? Yet, I feel this one was justified. I wanted to be on top of my game so that I could potentially get away from my drug source. I can't imagine doing a good job today while sweating, aching, crying, and running to the bathroom! I promise you, though, I'm not giving up!! Another quit date is just around the corner!!!!! Wish me luck on the job and getting sober!
so is the new quit date right after the job interview ? There is never a good time to honestly there is always something that will come up .Its better to just pick a date and do it ... My fear would be especially if you are looking for a new job is a drug test for that so I would get off them asap. You are just going to kind of have to jump in .have you forum any na meeting or something along that line for support >
The quit date will most likely be this week. I know there will always be something, but I need this job. I do not know if I will have a drug test or not, but I do have a scipt, so it's not a big deal. There are no meetings around my area, either. The quit date will be set. No worries.
then i would check in a therapist /// you are going to need something ... I am not around drugs everyday and I will have three years clean in about a month ... the first time without care I made it six month and relapsed
Barbie~~~ It's a very big deal about the drug test. It doesn't matter if you have a prescription. Please don't be naive.
It's very apparent on a urine/blood test when someone has taken MORE of the recommended amount of their prescribed drugs. That's the first thing they look for...
Don't apologize to the forum for not being sober. This is your gig!! You need to stop. Do it today. You've already had the interview. Take a FMLA from your current job and get this done. No more screwing around!

just to clarify,, employment drug screens are Not that specific , your either "dirty" or your not, in fact alot are a piece of paper dipped into the urine , and if it turns a certain color they send it on for futher analysis. now corrections dept. (sometimes) or DHS , they can and will pay the $ to get specific measurments etc. .
Unfortuantly i know this from experience! but honestly , i dont want some lab worker (that might of had a rough nite) entrusted with if i get the job or not , so i use (male female ) syn. urine. as do ppl i know that work union jobs. truck divers etc.
Now of course if its a dpt. of defence job or really high paying(ceo, etc, ) they might get a more expensive test , that gives that kind of data , but even then depending on metabolism, it would be awful diffucult to do the math on dosage = whats left in urine. unless its extreme!

Thanks! It's an accounts payable job, so yes...........I would be away from there, so I wouldn't have much of a choice! I appreciate your support, and mostly, your prayers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen the lab reports (part of my job) and spoken with physicians employed by the lab we use. These guys can pretty much determine how much of a particular drug is being taken and if it's being taken in excess.
But,I'll crawl back under my rock now...

Vicki595 yes these tests can be very specific measured in Ng. Mc. Mg. etc. & depending where you are in the U.S.A. (I have no idea about the rest of this world.)they can tell how much is in your system, but very rarely do they take the time and cost ., as when they started doing these things about 25 years ago it was mainly for companies & corporations to get a better insrance rate (workmens comp etc)and the good PR of "keeping drugs out of the workplace".

The point is moot anyway. Firstly, the company I applied with has 35 employees. It's doubtful that they would pay extra or whatever for extreme testing. Secondly, the max that a person should take in a 24 hr period is 8. Most days, that is the amount I take. I don't think they would consider it in excess.
I am worried for you. I see excuse after excuse and any excuse can be justified. If you don't put yourself first you won't have to worry about a job. Please do this for yourself.
I also worry that if you get this new job they will ask you to start in a week then you can't detox because you have a new job, and so on. Then it will be a year before your first vacation... I know you need the job but Barbie, at some point you have to put yourself first.
I have been to meetings on St. Maarten and on a cruise ship and on Nantucket and Colonial Williamsburg. All places you would not imagine there are meetings.

i meant to say depending where you are and what job you might be applying for , as i have moved quite alot and seen these tests through alot of satates, (11), and some areas were tougher than other areas.
i re read my answer and see that that part doesn't make sense , as why would a different geographic location make a diff.

Everything you say is,also,true. I undestood it! I've had the(unfortunate? LOL) experience of working for an organization
that spared no expense...and I knew what I had to do!!
