reccurent miscarriages

Ok so I have had a tough 30 days!!! A miscarriage, my sister n laws bf passed away, my DH's great aunt passed away, and My DH's Uncle who we were close with just passed away this morning. Now I am TTC again and started thinking about my progesterone levels and decided to call my Dr and ask about them. I have had 5 miscarriages and only with the 1st 2 the levels were tested. The nurse said  which I was told different previously that my 1st m/c the levels were slightly low???? WHAT!!! I told her I was told they were fine, she said I don't know who told u that but they were wrong I said the doctor did. The 2nd they were fine. I am totally baffled by this. I have asked my doctor about prometrium before and he said they do not prescribe it at his office because there is not enough study that it does help. Well I was going to change dr's and I called and they are not accepting any new patients till April!!!!!!! So now what to do??? I spoke to a nurse and asked her if it was ok to take the prometrium on my own, this is what she said After 5 m/c's and testing done and they can't find anything wrong, I say go for it! It's not going to hurt. She said to start using OPK's again and after I get a positive to take the 100mg suppository the 3rd day after the positive and keep taking it for no more then 12-14 days if I don't get a positive by then, then to stop. If I do get a positive to continue taking it and let the Doctor know. She said you usually take it until 12 weeks.

So my question is should I??? I found them online at a pharmacy and they are 36 bucks for 30. Has anyone ever did this??? If I start I won/t start till my next cycle since I this one is half over and I won't get the prometrium till after my cycle ends.

I am on them 200mg 3x aday. I was suppose to stop taking them at 10 weeks but was concerned because i lost a pregnancy at 11 weeks after stopping. So i have asked my RE and they said it was ok to stay on them. I wouldn't truat them online though. You don't know what you are getting. The nurse at your doctor won't even try to get you prescription? Do you have walk in clinics there where you can express your concerns and get a prescription? We have walk-in doctors here where if your doctor is busy or you are really sick you can go to. I have gone many times to get prescriptions filled when my dr has been out!

I was on them too and credit them with saving my pg.. on my m/c I didn't start taking them until it was already too late because I wasn't ttc... I did 3x a day too...  I don't see why your dr. wouldn't do them if you asked for them.  BTW you can have your progesterone checked even when you are not pg.  I think they do it on day 7 of a normal cycle...  It has been so long it is hard for me to remember but this number will tell you if you body even produces enough to sustain a pg.  I think it is 7 days after you period but someone on here should know that is actively ttc...  I swear they help.  Adgal had like 6 m/c and the onle she dept full term was the first one she used progesterone on..

I would say, go for it..! You have nothing to loose. After my 2nd chemical I started using a natural progesterone cream, We stopped ttc, but I notice that my periods started getting longer. Mine were usually just two days of spotting and a day of light bleeding. Now they are two or three days of med to light bleeding and at least three days of spotting. Which I read it means more uterus lining, which I believe is the result of the progesterone. Oh, but they were not painful or uncomfortable. Many blessings..,

I agree with the previous posts. Progesterone is a must for a successful pregnancy. I think low progresterone had something to do with my m/c. I miscarried at 16wks but baby had stopped growing at 13wks. The week I stopped taking the progesterone. I will probably continue to take progesterone throughout my entire pregnancy if I can.

Melimeli-When did you stop taking progesterone with your baby or did you continue for the entire pregnancy?

I am on the suppositories 3 days after my positive ppl (100 mg) and take them twice a day until beta, I've been doing that for over a year and I still lost babies, so this month I'm not taking anything and seeing what happens, if I get preggo and test shows I need them then I will take them, I think my body just needs a break from it. good luck hun!

Honey if there is any doubt your P level was off you need to find a doctor who will rx it for you!! It can definitely be the culprit in multiple early losses. It looks like this baby is a keeper for us, this is the first pregnancy I've been on the suppositories (200mg in a day, half in the morning and half in the evening vaginally). We saw the heartbeat yesterday! After 6 losses and possibly a 7th chemical, they tested my P level 5 dpo (I was traveling 5-13 dpo so I missed the time they usually do it) which was on the low end of normal. Doc said it could be since it was drawn so early, but she didn't want to take any chances so put me on the P.

Be active and fight for your care! If this doctor won't fight with you, find someone else who will! You deserve another baby.
