pancreatitis

Mar 28, 2011 - 3 comments

i am a 27 yr old female, with more pancreatitis attacks then i can count in the last year and a half. ive been accused of a frivilious life style which is so far from the truth. ive had every test known for this condition. in the last 2 months i was put on a protien suppliment to replace my emzymes that my pancreas produces. in the first 2 wks i lost 20 lbs, had no appetite, liquid bowel movements, dizziness, fatique, discoloring of the skin, and more symptoms i can even list. incuding the constant pain i had to learn to deal with as a normal day thing. ive seen countless doctors wth all say the same thing and ive been hospitalized so many times they know me by name, and to every hospital within my distance of living. i am constanly tired and out of energy along wih forcing myself to eat just to function, when im not waking up from pain. either dull but when bad, stabbing and sharp. when i do get tested all is fine in the blood and urine. its bad when i am happy my emzyme count is high it shows im not lying. ive been accused by doctors i like being drugged only when i go in for the pain management...its very frustrating.ive never had my gall bladder removed but once was said it might help. i recently had an ercp test   done after countless begging from my numerous doctors and am in more pain now then before. is there any advice for all this and more??

Sorry! I had pancreatic growths found on CT scan (checking lungs-bronchitis, pnuemonia). No pain. This was Mar 2010. Sent to UCLA for ERCP. Lost my biopsies. EXCURCIATING PAIN started during ERCP. Up whole procedure. Anesthesiologist apologized for not doing right. SO SORRY. Now 2/27/2014. Haven't had any pain relief since. Last yr. Vomited violently and diarrehea (diapers) every day for 6 months. Lost 40 lbs in a few months. Been eating again. In the hospital 80ndays last year. Pain has never stopped. So bad. Barely function. Had EUS nov.2011( supposed to be less invasive). My growths now have grown to 4cm on head and tail and smaller ones in the body. Keep growing precancerous growths in colon In 1 1/2yrs. 11th day of colonoscopy pain still so severe in nov 2011, hemorrhaged in local hospital for hrs. 4 transfusions. I think this will never stop till I am gone. They all wanted WHIPPLE SURGERY.  I decided no. I read alot now. I had no idea what could happen then from ERCP. Only advice is read ALOT and get copies of all test read and learn. I have gone higher on pain meds. It has helped the excurciating pain, but I have such severe sweating. I am soaked all the time. It pours, but I can at least move better. I take Pancrealipase 3 with meals (3times a day). 80 days in hospital 2013. They give iv fluids, pain meds, nausea meds and no food or water for days and then broth and jello 3 meals a day. It rests the pancreas.last  June I had Celiac Plexius Procedure to deaden the nerves to Pancreas. Didn't work. I couldn't move for over 2 week's. That I didn't read anywhere.  Doctor never warned me. Also got severe diarrhea as soon as I got home and didn't make it to the bathroom. Again not warned. Had great hopes for that to help pain for awhile. They want to do ERCP and EUS AGAIN to see where everything is now. Told no good choices. All bad. Terrified of aggravating pancreas again. Ask lots of questions. The pancreas lays on lots of nerves making the pain so severe. Pancreas does so much that effects everything. The WHIPPLE SURGERY hasn't changed much, only they have done more. 80 to 90% Chance will return.  Horrible surgery to recover from. Hard to get to. These are things I have been told are correct. Wish I had better info to offer. Wish you luck and hope you can work on the pain and keep the vomiting and diarrehea bearable. I find reclining helps the pain. If I sit, stand, bend, twist I can feel the growths pressing. Sometimes I can't take another step. I use a walker to relieve the pain, a high toliet seat, and other medical devices. I have a hospital bed with everything near me. I have so many other issues with the pancreas the worst. I need other surgeries,  but no one will operate because of the pancreas. If I can help please let me know. I am alone so I need to do the necessities. I am 70.

It's very hard for people that are well to understand being so sick and tired all the time. It's hard going to ER all the time and get those looks. I am lucky to have a fabulous understanding and caring internist. I have a very caring oncologist which I gave gad since 2006 as I haventhe protein for Multiple Myeloma. Then 8 ribs and pelvic fractures spontaneously broke. I also have mixed connective tissue. Been sick my whole life, but not like this. Try to keep your mind occupied while you recline and can stay awake. Support groups are good if you are able to find and go. I haven't gone for this, but I have for other things. You can share with people that understand and learn alot at the groups.
