Update on Pregabalin

May 02, 2011 - 1 comments

Well I'd just got my sleep pattern back to normal when I started pregabalin, it is now 4.30 in the morning and I've not had any sleep, so it looks like pregabalin isn't going to help me drop off in fact I'm wide awake and I've been like this since I started it!  I'm sick to death of starting new meds as I always have some problem with them, at least the clonazepam used to knock me out more often than not but the downside was that every day I felt like a zombie, hence stopping taking it.
I've a few other side effects with pregabalin at the moment but nothing major, I'm on a low dose but increase again next week so I'll see how it goes.
I can cope with most things but going to bed and laying there jerking because of the myoclonus every few seconds drives me mad, add not being able to sleep and I get really frustrated... tonight I took it out on my pillow and beat it up, it didn't help me sleep or stop jerking but I needed a punch bag :o)
My husband sleeps in another room and has done now for about a year, he can't sleep with me jerking as it makes him jump and wakes him up and I can't sleep with him because if he coughs or moves I jerk even more. It's a good job really with me going ten rounds with the pillow tonight I don't think he'd have been too impressed.
Well as there is no chance of sleep I think I'll just have milk and cookies and trawl the net until my body gives in and shuts down, hopefully sometime soon as I've got to be up in a couple of hours LOL.

I am so sorry to hear that you can't sleep.  What an awful feeling.  I have had insomnia before and it s u x!  The only thing that helped me was, when I couldn't take it anymore, I took some Benadryl, which finally knocked me out.  Hopefully when your body gets used to this new medication, this will end for you.

I have to admit, I did laugh a little reading this.  Taking it out on the pillow is something I have done in the past ;o)  Sometimes getting it out like that helps you to relax a little bit.

I'll be thinking of you and sending sleeping thoughts your way!

Hugs,  Sarah
