There isn't much to say for my story, but here goes...
We had a c-section scheduled due to complications for the 16th of June, so off we went to the hospital at 6am... Only to be sent home at 5pm :( Too many emergency c-sections meant that we were pushed back to the next day soooo back on the 17th of June bright an early :)
For those of you that don't know, I had a c-section with my son in 2010 and unfortunately after 2 locals and 4 failed spinals I ended up with nerve damage in my back and was put under a general, which had a bad effect on my blood pressure. My husband was unable to be present for our sons birth because of this and unable to cut our little boys cord. I spent 6 hours in recovery in hypertension stage 3 and was unable to come to properly, so I was unable to meet our little boy for some time... This time, we went in with high hopes that the procedure would be uneventful and that I would be awake for the birth of our little miracle.
So, at around 10am I went into theatre with a full plan - I'd have a epidural tube put in and have a spinal administered through that, so in the event that the spinal failed, an epidural could be given.
The spinal worked!
So, at 11:02am on the 17th of June our first baby girl was born.
Ruby Izabel weighed in at 6lb 11oz with APGARS of 8 at 1 minute. It was amazing to see Ruby right away and hear her first cries.
I was blessed this time to have an amazing medical team who went out of their way to ensure that I would be awake for our daughters birth and who also allowed my husband and daughter to stay with me for the entire procedure instead of being sent out while I was closed up.
The midwife even allowed Ruby to come to recovery with me and have skin on skin contact and feed right away.
It was such a different experience this time and I am sooo grateful.
