Over one year (4-2010 to 7-2011) without an AFib event then 7-12-11 comes around and out of the blue I get a nice big AFib event. Had to break out the "pill-in-pocket" (Flecainide) for the first time! Was a lot apprehensive about taking it, so waited longer than I had to. But I took 1 dose, waited an hour, then another dose (200mg total) , waited over an hour, then converted to NSR within 3 1/2 hrs total. That was the first one.
I've had three more with yesterday being the forth total. The last two events have just felt like someone turned on a switch. I have decided to not wait that long any more before taking the Flecainide. And I take the whole 300mg. Maybe 200mg, then 100mg after 1/2 to 1 hr later. (I am still a little apprehensive about the drug!).
The events are not lasting as long. The last one was 1 hr 45 mins. The one before that was around 1 1/2 hrs. BUT, I am still WIPED out after I go back into NSR! I have to lie down and nap for awhile. Then I still feel weak after I wake up!
I am debating on when to call the Cardiologist about the change. I remember him saying that he would try something different after I had gone through a couple "scrips" of the Flecainide. I still have enough for 3 more events before I get a refill! So....what to do? Why all of the sudden my heart starts up again? WTH?!
