My Sister, My Friend

Oct 04, 2011 - 6 comments

Godspeed on your journey.  How I wish I could be as close to your side as I am to your heart.

Some roads must be walked alone but are peaceful once we recognize we have gone beyond the turning back point.  This song used to make me sad. I see the beauty and freedom today.

James Taylor - That Lonesome Road

I love you SaSa,

Dearest Mary,

You have seen and endured so much suffering, mourning, sadness and grief. I really don't  know how you handle all of this sorrow and continue to find a way to live a fruitful life. I admire you and your fortitude. May your ways of handling grief  come to an end. I am so sorry to hear of your, your  family's and friends' losses.

With sorrow thoughts for you to accompany thoughts and many prayers,

Today is the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" Walk.

Our team was inspired by two women.  I never dreamed all the tags would say we were walking to HONOR a PwBC (person with breast cancer).  It seemed there would be one 'In Honor of...' and one 'In Memory of...'

So Sis, you may not make it to another one of your own birthdays.  And you may not make it to that special December birthday.  I'm not sure why you made it through to THIS day.  But you did and your presence there was strong today.  We walk to raise money for better treatments today and a future filled with birthdays despite a cancer diagnosis.  It's like my ACS shirt proclaims, "THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY CANDLES".

Who could have known how long this road would be?  I'd better have another listen to Sweet Baby James.

All my love,
