Well- just wanted to give a little update. Bit by bit we are meeting the criteria to get the girls home!
Girls are out of the incubators and are co-bedding. They do not want us to co-bed at home bc of sids- but while they are there on monitors it is safe. This means they are regulating their temps!
They are over 4 lbs and gaining every day!
The last thing they need to do is bottle feed every feeding. This is where we still need work. They are bottle feeding- but not every meal and sometimes they do not finish- they get soooo sleepy! When they do not finish- or it is not time to bottle feed, they gavage feed them- they use a syringe and feed them via feeding tube. Also Abigail is feeding better than Blakely. This concerns me bc Abigail may be able to come home first. Not that I do not want her home- but it is VERY difficult. I would have to bring me with me and she would have to stay in the car seat the entire time I am at the NICU. This is odd to me bc they force you to take a carseat class and in that class- the woman goes on and on about NOT using the carseat for anything but transportation- not to use it as a carrier- I guess preemies can have difficulty breathing with the way their heads sit in a carseat. Anyway- they do not make it easy once a baby has been released!
Okay- I am off to bed- i am so tired. I was there from 9 am until 9:30 pm. I know i have been there too much bc i was very excited about 'make your own waffles' at the caferia today! Gest. diabetes is gone! BTW- I have lost 25 lbs since having the girls!
Hope all is well with you! Happy holidays!
