Dose anyone know if METFORMIN really works and how long for it to start working ? I was put on metformin last monday 16th January 2012. dose it really help you to lose weight and help you to concieve ????? please help x

Metformin is used to treat type II diabetes/insulin resistance and PCOS. I can't say about helping to conceive, but I have seen people lose weight on it, though eating right is essential also.

Hi Barb i have diabeties type 2 and P.C.O.S . just wondering if it really helps with P.C.O.S and diabeties ... plus i seen some people saying they have lost weight on metformin . thanks for your reply :)

I had a higher than I should have blood sugar although not diabetic the doc put me on Metformin, it didnt work for me I had many side effects including rashes so they took me off i,I now watch what I eat and am okay .I hope it works for you good luck

Thankyou margypops for your reply , i had feelings of feeling sick and going to the toilet for about 3days then it all stop for me , i am also starting to watch wat i eat now to see how i get on .

I have been taking Synthroid 100mcg and Cytomel 5 mg added 8 months ago. Diagnosed today with Insulin resistance and will start Metfomin and diet changes. Any thoughts on this regime?
