Leep procedure

Jan 26, 2012 - 0 comments

So I had my post preggo pap in the beginning of November.  The results came back abnormal and at the time my doctor said she wanted to do a colposcopy first, but was sure she would end up doing a leep.  I had to have a colposcopy on Dec 23.  I got my results back from that a week later.  It showed cin iii on my cervix and also within the cervical canal.  I was pretty surprised as all my papa have come back normal until this one.  I thought it took a while for just mild dysplasia to progress to severe like I have!  She scheduled me for a leep on Jan 23.  It was supposed to be a quick 10 minute procedure but of course with my luck it turned into a lot longer.  I was a bleeder :(. I had to have multiple stitches as the cauterizing just wasn't stopping it.  and she had to take two swipes across my cervix with the loop, then she did a conization because it extended into the canal.  Thankfully she kept hitting me with the anesthetic. It wasn't painful at all but very stressful.  When it was finally under control, they wouldn't let me leave for a while until they made sure the bleeding was stopped.  Pelvic rest for three weeks, no work for five days and no lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk for four days.  This really stinks because my four month old is a little chunk and already weighs 17lbs! Now it is just a waiting game to see if they got all of the lesion. Can't seem to get it out of my mind that this isn't over though!  I hate waiting for results!
